Captain Suryakumar Yadav, who returned home after winning the T20 World Cup from Ahmedabad, said, ‘It feels great to win the T20 World Cup trophy in the year 2024 and now in 2026 also. This is a very special feeling. When we won in the year 2024, we thought how special it would be to repeat it on our home ground in 2026. Our next target is to win gold medal in Olympics in the year 2028. The team is in good rhythm. If India also wins the T20 World Cup in the same year (in 2028), it will be a big achievement.
Surya joins Dhoni-Rohit’s club
On comparing himself with legendary captains like MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav said, ‘It feels good to join that elite club. I am slowly realizing it. It is a very special feeling to have my name mentioned along with such great players. I will try to do the same in future and help India win more trophies.
Surya had talked to Dhoni before the World Cup
Suryakumar Yadav has revealed that he had talked to MS Dhoni before the T20 World Cup. Surya said, ‘I had met him (Dhoni) before the tournament and he told me how to play in the ICC tournament. He had said that our team is good, we just have to have courage and we will definitely win. His reaction after the win was fantastic.
