The excitement of ICC Men’s T-20 Cricket World Cup 2026 is starting from today in Delhi. There is tremendous enthusiasm in the capital regarding the first match being played in the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In view of the possibility of thousands of spectators reaching the stadium, Delhi Traffic Police has issued a special traffic advisory.
Diversions and restrictions will be in place on many major roads to avoid traffic jams and maintain smooth traffic during match days. An appeal has been made to the common people and cricket lovers to follow the prescribed guidelines.
World Cup matches will be played in the capital on these dates
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup matches will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Ferozshah Kotla Ground on 10 February, 12 February, 13 February, 16 February, 18 February and 1 March 2026. During all these matches, there will be special control on traffic from 9 am to 11:30 pm.
According to Delhi Traffic Police, traffic diversion will be done as per need one hour before the start of the match and one hour after its end. During this period, movement of heavy vehicles will be restricted from Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, Daryaganj to Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, Guru Nanak Chowk to Asaf Ali Road and Delhi Gate to JLN Marg.
Advice to avoid these roads during these times
- On 10 February, 16 February and 18 February 2026 from 9 am to 2 pm.
- On 13 February and 1 March 2026 from 2 pm to 7 pm.
- On February 12, 2026 from 6 pm to 11:30 pm.
During these times, there is a possibility of traffic jam due to crowd of spectators. During this period, Rajghat to Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Asaf Ali Road from Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate and Bahadurshah Zafar Marg from ITO Chowk to Delhi Gate will be mainly affected.
Gate arrangement for entry into the stadium
- Gate numbers 1 to 8 are located on the southern side of the stadium, where entry will be done from Bahadurshah Zafar Marg.
- Gate numbers 10 to 15 are on the eastern side of the stadium and entry will be from JLN road near Ambedkar Stadium bus terminal.
- Gate numbers 16, 17 and 18 are located on the western side of the stadium, entry into which will be from near the petrol pump on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg.
Parking facility for labeled vehicles
Free parking arrangements have been made for labeled vehicles below Mata Sundari Road, Rajghat Power House Road and Velodrome Road. Limited parking facility will also be available around the stadium.
It will be mandatory to display car parking label on the windscreen of the vehicle. Vehicle number must be written on the label. Vehicles without labels or vehicle numbers will not be allowed to enter the vicinity of the stadium.
Advice given to come via these routes
Car parking label holders have been advised to use Ring Road, JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road or Bahadurshah Zafar Marg. U-turn will be allowed at Delhi Gate. Entry into Parking P-1, P-2 and P-3 will be done only from Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, near Vikram Nagar Cut, Shaheed Path.
On the day of the match, parking of any vehicle will be prohibited on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg and Ring Road from Rajghat to IP flyover. Vehicles violating the rules will be towed and action will be taken under the law.
These items will be banned due to security reasons
Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to the spectators and common citizens to use public transport like metro and bus as much as possible. Gate numbers 4 and 5 of Delhi Gate metro station and gate numbers 3, 4 and 5 of ITO metro station are the nearest stations to the stadium.
Laptop, camera, helmet, power bank, bag, food items, water bottle, lighter, matchbox, knife and any kind of weapon will not be allowed in the stadium.
