The American team has suffered a setback before the start of the T20 World Cup 2026. Four players of Pakistani origin have not got visa to come to India. In such a situation, now these players are in danger of playing in the World Cup. This claim has been made in a report on Tuesday.
Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is to be played from 7 February to 8 March, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. A player told ‘Telecom Asia Sport’ that he and three other players have not received visas to come to India for the T20 World Cup.
Pacer Ali Khan told Telecom Asia Sport in a video message, “Yes, it is true that three players of Pakistani origin have not got Indian visas, which means that we will not be able to participate in the T20 World Cup.”
The report claims that the other three players included in the 20-member US team for the T20 World Cup are Shayan Jahangir, Mohammad Mohsin and Ehsan Adil. All three were born in Pakistan, but are now US citizens. Under India’s visa rules, all people born in Pakistan must apply for a visa using the passport of their country of birth.
This problem has troubled players of Pakistani origin before. Earlier, Sikandar Zulfikar and Saqib Zulfikar were denied visas in 2019. At the same time, Siraj Ahmed got the visa late for World Cup 2023. Australian opener Usman Khawaja (2017) and England spinners Rehan Ahmed and Shoaib Bashir (2024) have also faced these problems.
Apart from USA, there are players of Pakistani origin in the teams of UAE, Oman, Nepal, Canada, England, Zimbabwe and Netherlands. In such a situation, these countries may have to face problems before the T20 World Cup 2026.
International Cricket Council sources have said that they are helping the teams in getting visas, but this new problem has increased their work.
