Nepal surprised everyone by defeating UAE by one run in the Super Six match of T20 World Cup 2026 Asia Qualifier. High-voltage drama of the last over
UAE needed 10 runs in the last over to win. The ball was in the hands of Nepal’s all-rounder Deependra Singh Airi. 7 runs were scored on his first three balls, Dhruv Parashar hit a brilliant six on the third ball. Now the winning equation was that UAE needed 3 runs from 3 balls, but then the real game started. On the fourth ball, Parashar gave an easy catch at long-on. Haider Ali was out while trying to score runs on the fifth ball. The biggest twist of the match came when he lost his bat and even the first run was not valid.
Now UAE needed 3 runs on the last ball. Junaid Siddiqui played the ball towards long-on and was run out while trying to take the second run. There was chaos on the field and Nepal won the match by 1 run.
Asif Shaikh’s innings helped the team
Earlier, Nepal won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 140 runs in 20 overs. Asif Sheikh scored a brilliant half-century (52 runs), while Gulshan Jha and Kushal Malla took the team to a respectable score. Alishan Sharafu played an inning of 58 runs for UAE, but the match changed as soon as he was out.

With this thrilling victory, Nepal has secured a top place in the Super Six stage by remaining unbeaten. Now Nepal has a great chance to make it to the T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India and Sri Lanka. The top three teams of this stage will qualify for the World Cup.
