China is accelerating the adoption of self-driving technology. A report says that in 2024, about 15 million (1.5 crore) new cars will have at least Level 2 (L2) self-driving capabilities. By 2025, two-thirds of the new car models sold in the country are expected to be L2 or Advanced automation. The vehicle manufacturers are taking advantage of the Advance Driver Assist System (ADAS) to create a lead in the competitor in the rapidly developing market. In 2024, China’s auto industry allegedly saw an increase of 5.5% year-on-year, with a total delivery of 22.9 million vehicles. All the main vehicle manufacturers in India are now attracting customers via ADAS. Where earlier it was considered technology of a premium segment, Adas is currently being used in budget models.

It has been reported that this technology will be included not only in premium models, but also in cars priced less than 100,000 yuan (about Rs 12 lakh). It is estimated that the cost of technology will be due to a decline in the cost.

The report states that these cars will have at least Level 2 (L2) self-driving capabilities, which means that these models can control steering, excellence and decoration. However, drivers in vehicles equipped with this technology may require the vehicle to handle at any time.

The general secretary of the Chena EV100, a non-governmental organization, says that two of the three new cars sold in China in 2025 will have a self-driving capacity of L2 or above. According to the report, in 2024, Chinese manufacturers delivered 22.9 million cars in the domestic and international markets, including both electric and petrol variants. Not only this, it has been forecast that BYD has prepared a plan to make cars priced less than 100,000 yuan with initial ADAS. Currently, most of the cars manufactured in China cost more than 150,000 yuan. Certainly if this happens, it can give rise to the beginning of a new revolution in China’s vehicle market.
