Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced to give prize money of Rs 1.5 crore to Indian cricketer Pratika Rawal. Pratika was opening for the Indian team in the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, but she got injured before the knockout matches. Pratika had scored 308 runs in the World Cup.

CM Rekha Gupta confirmed on social media and said, “Today we welcomed Pratika Rawal, the talented player of the Indian women’s cricket team, at the Chief Minister Seva Sadan. Our talented daughter Pratika Rawal has brought glory to Delhi. For her commitment towards cricket and excellent performance, the Delhi government announces a prize money of Rs 1.5 crore for her.”

Pratika Raval was the fourth highest run scorer in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. He had scored 308 runs. She was behind Laura Wolfhart (571), Smriti Mandhana (434) and Ashley Gardner (328) among the batsmen who scored the most runs.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Pratika Rawal is a symbol of courage, energy and women empowerment. Rekha Gupta said, “His journey shows that Delhi not only gives birth to dreams but also helps them take flight. Best wishes to him for a bright future.”

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood and DDCA President Rohan Jaitley were also present to welcome Pratika Rawal. When the Indian team won the final by defeating South Africa by 52 runs on 2 November, Pratika Raval joined the team in a wheelchair. Since Pratika was eliminated in the Rawal Beach tournament, there was a question whether she would get a medal for becoming the winner or not. But ICC amended its rules and also gave the medal to Rawal.

The total prize money of the previous Women’s ODI World Cup played in New Zealand was around Rs 31 crore and in this way, this amount has been increased by about 297 percent. The total prize money of the Women’s ODI World Cup is more than the prize money of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, with a total prize money of $ 10 million (about Rs 88.26 crore).

Women’s ODI World Cup runner -up team will now get $ 2.24 million (about Rs 19.77 crore) while teams losing in the semi -finals will get $ 1.12 million (about Rs 9.89 crore). The teams will get $ 34,314 (about 30.29 lakh rupees) if winning the group stage (league stage). Fifth and sixth -ranked teams will get $ 700,000 (about 62 lakh rupees) and seventh and eighth place teams will get $ 280,000 (about Rs 24.71 lakh). Each participant team will get $ 250,000 (about 22 lakh rupees).

The ICC said that the purpose of this step is to increase the popularity of women’s cricket around the world and bring it equal to male cricket.
