Tahawwur Rana News: The mastermind of the Mumbai terror attacks is currently under NIA’s custody, where he is being questioned. According to sources, here he is feeling fear of hanging 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab. After nearly 16 years of being imprisoned in America, Tahwwur Rana is now collecting information about Indian law. He is repeatedly gathering information about the Indian justice process from the authorities.

Tahwwur is collecting information about all legal process

As per the court order, two government lawyers appointed met Tawwur Rana for half an hour, in which he gave information about all the allegations. Rana is collecting information about each section against him. He is trying to know how the further legal process will take place and till the trial will last. During the meeting with the legal team, he was mostly trying to find out what other legal process is going to be against him?

Initial phase inquiry started

The investigating agency is currently interrogating the initial phase from Tahwwur Rana. Right now there is no fragrance to take Tahwwur outside Delhi due to security reasons. NIA gives Tahwwur Rana a time to offer 5 times prayers and is given food according to the rules.

Tehwwur Rana is not deliberately cooperating in the investigation and is trying to draw time. Rana is an important link for India’s investigative agencies, as it is believed to have been involved in the conspiracy of Mumbai attacks with Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba and ISI. Tawwur Rana was produced in the special court of NIA at Patiala House, from where he was sent to 18 days custody.

Tahawwur rana extradition: Tawwur Rana, the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, is currently in the custody of NIA. According to sources, he was questioned for 4 hours on Friday (11 April 2025), but he did not cooperate in the investigation. The questioning of Tehwwur started at 11.15 am. He was taken out of his cell at around 11.10 am and taken to the interrogation room.

Excuse of illness continued to make accused

Earlier, a meeting of NIA officials took place between 10.30 and 11 am, in which a framework was prepared for questioning Tehwwur Rana. According to sources, Tahwwur is trying to avoid investigation by citing his illness in the inquiry. After extradition from the US, the court sent Rana to 18 days NIA custody. After this, he was brought to the NIA headquarters on Friday morning.

Planning was also being done in other cities

NIA wants to get information from Tahwwur Rana on all aspects that are associated with terrorist network and 26/11 attack conspiracy in India. Tahwwur Rana is accused of conspiring to carry out terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008, along with David Coleman Headley, Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let) Harakat-ul-Jahadi Islamic (HUJI) and Pakistan terrorists.

The investigating agency suspects that Tahavvur Rana had hatched a terrorist conspiracy like 26/11 Mumbai attacks to target many cities of India. In its order, the court also directed the NIA to allow Tahwwur Rana’s medical examination and permission to meet his lawyer every other day every 24 hours.

These cities including Delhi, Kochi, Ahmedabad visited

According to the NIA, Tahwwur Rana along with his wife Samraj Rana Akhtar visited Hapur and Agra, Delhi, Kochi, Ahmedabad and Mumbai between 13 November and 21 November 2008. This journey can be a major conspiracy to target other places across the country.

Tahawwur rana extradition: 26/11 Tawwur Rana, the mastermind of the Mumbai attack, has been brought to India on Thursday (10 April 2025). He is to be produced in the NIA Special Court in Delhi. Sushil Shinde praised the center

The former Home Minister said, “Now after investigation, all the truth will be revealed. This government has done a good job. We (Central Government) praise them, there is nothing wrong in praising because it was a long -running issue.” Following the court order, Tahwwur Rana can be kept in a ward with high security in Tihar Jail.

Earlier too, former Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and several other opposition leaders welcomed the extradition of Tehwwur Hussain Rana, accused of 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Sushil Kumar Shinde was the Home Minister in the then Congress -led UPA government in 2012, when Ajmal Aamir Kasab, the only terrorist caught alive from the terrorists of Pakistan in Mumbai, was hanged in Yerwada Jail in Pune.

The NIA said, “The Central District Court of California ordered the extradition of Tehwavur Rana on 16 May 2023. After this, Tahwwur Rana filed suit in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, all of which were rejected. After this, Tahwavur filed a Rit of Falor, two priests and an objection to an objection. It was also rejected. “

‘Mastermind of Mumbai terror attacks’

The NIA issued a statement saying, “Rana is accused of conspiring to carry out terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008 along with David Coleman Headley, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) Harkat-Jihadi Islamic (HUJI) and Pakistan’s terrorists. Pakistan has said on Thursday that it has nothing to do with Tawwur Rana, accused of terrorist attack in Mumbai. Pakistan said that Tehwavur Rana is a Canadian citizen and has not updated his Pakistani documents for almost two decades. Rana is a close associate of American citizen David Coleman Headley alias Dawood Gilani, one of the main conspirators of the Mumbai terror attacks.
