6G: The world of technology is going through new changes every day. Currently, 5G networks are expanding in many countries including India and people are enjoying high-speed internet. But now the discussion is being done about 6G, which is being considered as the next big step of mobile communication. The question is how long the 6G phone will be in our hands and how different will it be from 5G? Let’s know in detail.

How long can 6G come?

Experts believe that research on 6G technology has intensified since 2020. South Korea, Japan, America and China are working fast in this direction. According to media reports, the use of 6G networks can begin by the year 2030. India is also not behind in this race, the government and many tech companies are preparing for 6G here. It is likely that in the next 5-6 years, the entry of 6G smartphones may be in the market.

How different will be 6G from 5G?

5G has made mobile internet very fast but 6G will take it to a new level. While the download speed of 5G can reach 10 GBPS, this speed in 6G can be 100 GBPS or more. This means that it will be possible to download the entire film or heavy data file in a few seconds. Apart from this, where less delay has been received from 5G, it will be even less in 6G. That is, there will be no hindrance in video calls, online gaming or real-time applications.

Dhansu features from 6G

6G will not be limited to internet speed, but it will bring many such great features that can change our lives.

Hologram calling: On the 6G network you will be able to see a friend or office meeting in 3D as a hologram.

AI and Robotics Integration: The 6G network will include artificial intelligence deeply, making smart devices even more intelligent.

Metavors and XR Experience: Virtual reality (VR), agramed reality (AR) and mixed reality (XR) will look very smooth and real with 6G.

Space Internet Connectivity: By joining 6G satellites, one can provide fast internet between far-flung areas and even the sea.

What else will you get special

When 6G comes, new smartphones will have to be equipped with it. These phones will have advanced chipsets, powerful batteries and modules that can support ultra-fast network. Also, companies can include AI-based features, better cameras and new types of display technology. Although we will have to wait a few years for 6G, but it is certain that this technology can make people’s way of living even better.

India has made a lot of progress in the telecom sector over the years. After the launch of 5G service in the country, preparations are being made for 6G. India has joined the top six countries in the patent fileings for this next-generation telecom network. Projects related to 6G are being promoted by the central government.

Minister of State for Communications, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani at India 6G conference told That funding of more than Rs 300 crore has been approved for more than 110 projects associated with it. “The 6G operating on terahertz frequency is up to one terabyte per second. It is about 100 times faster than 5G,” he said. Chandra Sekhar said that there is a large talent pool in the country and there is no reason that the country does not get a leading place in 6G. He said, “Communications will be secured by doing indigenous 6G technology development. This will also strengthen India’s position on technology at international level.”

Recently, a press release of India Brand Equity Foundation stated that 6G technology will form new industries and there will be a big change in the current industries. This is expected to contribute about one billion dollars by 2035 in the country’s economy.

India is also moving rapidly with satellite internet services. Recently, the government has received permission to provide satellite communication services to Billionaire Elon Musk’s Starlink. The Telecom Department (DOT) has issued a letter of introduction (LOI) to Starlink for this. Starlink is developed by Musk’s rocket company Spacex. It provides high-speed broadband internet service in many countries using satellite technology. Geostationary satellites are used for general internet services. In contrast, Starlinks uses the largest low meaning orbit consultation. Jio Satellite Communications and Eultsat Onweb have already received licenses for this service. These companies will be able to start this service after spectrum is allotch for this. <!--

India is actively preparing for 6G, which is expected to improve 100 times faster than 5G and improve battery backup. With 5G already covering 99% of the country, the government is rapidly promoting 6G development. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, while emphasizing the need for digital advancement, said that India aims to become the third largest economy by 2027. The India 6G Alliance, set by DOT in 2023, aims to promote 6G innovation by uniting startups, companies and manufacturers. It has been claimed that 6G can give speed of up to 100Mbps, which will increase internet connectivity significantly.

According to Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia (Via Timesbull), India can become the third largest economy by exiting Japan and Germany by 2027. In such a situation, the country needs to be digitally strong and advanced. The Union Minister assured that the country is moving fast in this matter. It was also reported that India launched 5G in a record 22 months, which was the fastest in the world. It currently covers about 99 percent of the country’s area.

According to Mr. Scindia, the government is promoting 6G technology. It is being claimed that with the help of 6G technology, the user can get 100Mbps data speed. Internet speed will increase by 5 times. According to Jyotiraditya Scindia, about 10 years ago, internet speed in India used to be 1.5 Mbps.

For this, the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has already formed a 6G Alliance. It aims to promote the design, development and deployment of 6G technology by bringing Indian startups, companies and manufacturers together. It was formed in 2023. The 6G network will integrate satellite connectivity and AI-driving communication. This will also improve the battery backup, as the sensor-based network will be activated only when the device is in use.

In an interview last year, the Union Minister said that the country’s pace was slow in 3G, the country was run with the world in 4G and 5G and the country in 6G has the ability to lead the world. He had told that the cost of 1GB of data which was once 287 rupees, has now come down to nine rupees. This is a big change. However, since then telecom companies have also increased a major increase in tariffs one after the other.<!--

Qualcomm on Wednesday announced to start work on its 6G wireless technology. The company says that it will start the process of standardization of 6G network from this year, which will focus on improving coverage in better spectral efficiency and all frequency bands. Apart from this, Qualcomm is also integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in 6G network and devices. The company will present its innovation in Barcelona in Mobile World Congress (MWC) in 2025.

Qualcomm’s 6G vision is based on an AI-Netve system, where the network itself can understand its parameters by understanding real-time conditions such as interfensions, traffic loads and user movements. The company’s focus is to improve the network coverage and capacity. Qualcomm Believe That the network can be optimized over time by learning from itself through AI-Netave Protocol, which will provide customized performance for every user and device.

The company is advancing 6G development through 5G Advanced. Qualcomm has started designing the AI-Enhanced Channel State Feedback (CSF), which will use AI and Machine Learning (ML) in 5G Advanced Technology in Radio Access Network (Ran), Core Network and Network Management. 5G Advanced, launched with 3GPP Release 18 last year, is considered an important step for 6G standardization.

Qualcomm is upgrading its MIMO system designs so that it can support FR3 midband spectrum (7-15 GHz). This spectrum was proposed in World Radio Conference 2023 and includes frequency of 7.125 GHz to 24.25 GHz. Qualcomm of this new FR3 Giga-Mimo system did over-the-air test, which results in the results of better speed and coverage, which can be considered equal to the frequency below 7 GHz. Qualcomm says that he will prepare this band for 6G network deployment in association with spectrum regulators.<!--

The launch of 6G technology may be delayed due to lack of revenue generation from 5G service and telecom operators getting low return on investment (ROI). SP Kochhar, Director General of Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), told a press conference that recently there was a thorough discussion on the subject in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, where it was revealed that telecom companies should contribute from the Communication Over Doporms to reduce the weight of network infrastructure. Saying Mr. Kochhar, if the solid use cases of 5G do not come up in the next 2-3 years, then the launch of 6G service can move after 2030.

Business Standard UnderMr. Kochhar said in the press briefing, “The average ROI of telecom companies in India is only 4%, making it difficult for him to make new investments on a large scale.” COAI represents private telecom companies like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (VI). The organization believes that telecom companies have to make large investments to maintain their network due to heavy data traffic generated by OTT service. In such a situation, 4-5 large traffic generating OTT platforms should pay to telecom companies as ‘Fair Share Charge’ (FSC).

He further stated that representatives of many countries in MWC agreed that 11 telecom operators have been closed due to lack of profits in recent years and this number could increase. He said that OTT platforms are not yet sharing revenue with telecom companies at global level. In Europe, America and Southeast Asia, support for this demand is also increasing.

According to the Global Mobile Industry Body GSMA, telecom companies have spent 85% of the total network investment, which does not include end-user devices. Also, increasing expenses on technology like GPU and AI and lack of immediate montage of 5G are also a matter of concern.

In her press brief, Mr. Kochhar further stated that Indian telecom companies have ordered graphics processing units (GPU) and will soon include them in their network infrastructure. GPU is being used to manage large-scale data analytics, network optimization and AI-Drive Service. According to him, the efficiency of the telecom network is increasing through AI and unnecessary expenses are also decreasing.
