Fitness Routine Tips: In today’s time, where people start considering their body weak only after the age of 40-50, an 80 year old grandmother has shown the whole world that if the intention is strong then age does not matter. This is the story of a woman who, in the 70th year of her life, decided to completely change herself. This woman, who was once dependent on medicines and diseases, today sweats for hours in the gym, lifts heavy weights and has become an inspiration for thousands of people. He believes that our body can change at any age. For this only right direction and daily routine is required. So today let us tell you what is the fitness routine of an 80 year old grandmother.

Who is this 80 year old grandmother?

This 80 year old grandmother is Joan McDonald, a resident of Canada, who has become a great example of fitness in today’s time. She has proved that if a person has a strong will, he can change his body at any age. Joan was earlier battling many diseases. He had problems like high blood pressure, acidity, dizziness and arthritis. But today the same woman lifts heavy weights in the gym, exercises daily and has become an inspiration for millions of people. His story shows that fitness has no expiry date.

How did the journey from medicines to fitness begin?

At the age of 70, his weight was about 90 kg. He had many health problems like high blood pressure, acidity (acid reflux), dizziness (vertigo), joint pain (arthritis), doctors were increasing the dosage of his medicines, but instead of giving up, he decided to change himself. His daughter, who was a fitness expert, supported him in this change. Gradually he started exercising and eating right and lost 29 kg weight in about 3 years.

What is the fitness routine of an 80 year old grandmother?

1. Starting with warm-up – Joan warms up thoroughly before every workout. So that muscles and joints can be protected from injury.

2. Strength training 5 days a week – She does strength training five days a week. She is not afraid of lifting heavy weights and includes bench press, squats, lat pull downs and machine exercises in her workout. In the beginning he used machines more. So that there is not much pressure on the body, but gradually he strengthened himself and moved towards free weights.

3. Cardio – Along with strength training, she also pays full attention to cardio. She does cardio three to seven days a week and exercises for 15 to 45 minutes each time. This keeps their heart healthy and also increases their stamina.

4. Stretching – Joan does stretching for 15 minutes after every workout. This provides relaxation to the muscles, maintains flexibility in the body and recovery occurs quickly. This is the reason why she remains constantly active and fit.

Zone’s diet and lifestyle

Fitness is not limited to gym only, but eating habits and thinking are also equally important. In such a situation, Joan takes about 150 grams of protein every day, drinks 3 liters of water and instead of just counting calories, she focuses on protein, carbs and fat i.e. macro planning. The special thing is that she has become completely fit naturally and does not take the help of any kind of steroids or medicines, along with this, to keep her mind active, she uses meditation apps, plays brain games and keeps learning new languages. To take care of her joints, she wears knee supports and also takes back support when needed, which enables her to remain active continuously without injury.

Even ahead of WHO rules

Zone’s routine is more effective than the fitness rules of the World Health Organization. While 150 to 300 minutes of activity is recommended for people over 65, Joan does more. They recommend strength training 2 days a week, but she does 5 days. She also pays full attention to balance and strength.
