8th Pay Commission: Since the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, a lot of agitation is being seen among the employees. While employee organizations have certain expectations from the Pay Commission, pensioners also have different expectations. After the demands of the employee organizations, now the pensioners’ organizations have also demanded changes in the pension structure from this Pay Commission. Now pensioners want that they should get increased pension as per their age.

Pension should be according to age
In the 8th Pay Commission, everyone from employees to pensioners have put forth their demands. Some have demanded increase in DA, some have demanded salary revision and some have demanded pension benefits. Apart from the demand of the employees, pension organizations are also demanding that retired employees should be given pension according to their age. • A 65 year old retired employee should get 70% of his last salary as pension.
• A 70 year old retired employee should get 75% of his last salary as pension.
• A 75 year old retired employee should get 80% of his last salary as pension.
• An 80 year old retired employee should get 85% of his last salary as pension.
• An 85 year old retired employee should get 90% of his last salary as pension.
• Retired employees aged 90 years or above should get their last salary in the form of full 100% pension.

Not only this, the employees have also put forth their demands regarding pension. In which:

• Increasing the minimum pension to 67% of the last drawn pay (LPD), or equal to the average pay drawn during the last 10 months of service.
• To amend the fitment factor used for pension calculation.
• To review the Dearness Relief (DR) structure and integrate it into pension benefits.
• To expand the scope of family pension benefits.

Let us tell you that after the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, if the demands of the employees and pensioners are accepted, then about 50 lakh central employees will get the benefit. So about 56 lakh retired pensioners will also get its benefit, including retired defense and railway employees.

8th Pay Commission Questionnaire: The eyes of lakhs of government employees and pensioners are currently fixed on the 8th Pay Commission. With every pay commission, major changes related to salary structure, allowances and pension are expected. For this reason, employees were waiting for updates related to this for a long time.

Now the government has taken a big step forward in this process. The 8th Central Pay Commission has launched its official online portal. Where employees and pensioners can directly register their suggestions and demands. Know how you can register on this portal and submit your suggestions.

How to register on the portal

If you want to give your suggestions to the 8th Pay Commission. So its process has been kept quite easy. Employees and pensioners can register on the portal and register their opinions in just a few minutes sitting at home. For this you will have to follow the steps given below.

• First of all go to the official portal 8cpc.gov.in or MyGov website.
• Click on Login to Participate or Submit Questionnaires option visible on the homepage.
• After this enter your mobile number or email ID.
• OTP will come on your number or email, enter it and complete the login.
• After login, your profile will be created and you will be able to start the further process.

In this way, you can access the Commission’s questionnaire by logging into the portal and start the process of registering your opinion.

Opinion is being sought through 18 questions

After logging into the portal, employees will have to fill a questionnaire. The 8th Pay Commission has prepared a list of total 18 questions for this. The purpose of these questions is to understand what changes are felt by the employees in the current salary system.

• Suggestions related to salary increase and salary structure.
• Demand for changes in dearness allowance and other allowances.
• Opinion related to improving the pension system.
• Suggestions regarding terms of service and features.

Employees can answer these questions according to their experience and needs. Many employee organizations can also send their collective suggestions through this medium. This will help the Commission to understand the problems and expectations of different categories of employees.

Know these important things before sending suggestions

The government has also set a fixed time limit for this process. Employees and pensioners can send their suggestions only within a certain period. So if you want to register your opinion. So it is important to keep the time limit in mind.

• The process of sending suggestions has started from March 5, 2026.
• The last date for submitting suggestions has been fixed as 30 April 2026.
• The Commission will accept only suggestions submitted online.
• Memorandums sent through paper, email or PDF will not be valid.
• Central government employees, pensioners, defense personnel and employee organizations can participate in it.

The Commission will analyze in detail all the suggestions received on the portal. After this, recommendations related to changes in salaries and allowances will be prepared keeping in mind the needs and economic conditions of the employees. Eighth Pay Commission Updates: The Central Government has finally formally constituted the 8th Pay Commission. This commission will review the salaries, pensions and allowances of central government employees and pensioners and recommend amendments. The Commission’s recommendations are expected to impact more than one crore employees and pensioners.

What is the work of the Eighth Pay Commission?

When will the Eighth Pay Commission be implemented?

The Seventh Pay Commission was implemented from January 1, 2016. In this sequence, the Eighth Pay Commission is expected to be effective from January 1, 2026. If there is a delay in the Commission’s report or implementation, employees may receive increased wages along with arrears. The government has given the commission 18 months time to submit its report after consultation with various ministries, departments and employee organizations.

How much will salary and pension increase?

The most important factor will be Fitment Factor – i.e. the ratio between the old and new pay structure. In the Seventh Pay Commission, the fitment factor was kept at 2.57. According to experts, in the 8th Pay Commission it can remain between 2.8 to 3.0. This means that a significant increase in the basic pay of employees is possible. However, the actual increase in salary and pension will also depend on what amendments are made in Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other allowances.

The aim of the Eighth Pay Commission is that the increase in the salaries of government employees should be fiscally sustainable, so that it neither puts excessive pressure on the government budget nor affects the real income of the employees. Overall, this decision is being considered as a big relief and encouraging news for the central government employees and pensioners, due to which they may see a significant increase in their income from 2026.
