The Government of India has approved the proposal related to the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. The job of this commission is to give recommendations on changes in the salaries and allowances of government employees, pensioners and defense personnel of the country. The command of this important responsibility has been handed over to former Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai. Now people across the country also want to know who he is, what is his experience and in what direction can the Pay Commission go under his leadership.

Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai was born in the year 1949 in Mumbai. He studied at Elphinstone College, Mumbai and then completed his law studies from Government Law College. Interestingly, when he decided to take up advocacy as a career, his family was not in favor of it. His father, himself a renowned lawyer, wanted him to go to London to study further in economics. But Ranjana chose law and proved herself.

After studying law, he started working in the chamber of a relative. During this time, he got a case, in which his hard work and arguments led to his first victory and the fee was only Rs 35. This was the first success of his advocacy, which gave him confidence to move forward.

many important decisions

While in the Supreme Court, he gave important decisions in many important cases. For example, he had given strict instructions to the Central Government in the black money case, due to which the action against illegal money in the country was intensified. His decision in the controversy related to Nityananda was also much talked about.

I get this much pension

According to media reports, retired Supreme Court justices get Rs 15 lakh per year as pension. Besides, they are also given many other facilities. Apart from this, the information about how much salary he will get while being on the 8th Pay Commission Committee is not yet available.

Eighth pay commission: The government has decided to set up the Eighth Pay Commission earlier this year. But according to the Finance Ministry, the notifications for the appointment of its president and its members are still waiting. Giving a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that inputs have been sought from major shareholders as well as from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defense and other ministries before issuing notifications for the Eighth Pay Commission.

Waiting for appointment of CPC Chief

On the question of the delay in the formation of the panel in the formation of the panel in January, despite the announcement of the Eighth Pay Commission on behalf of MPs TR Balu and Anand Bhadoria, the new pay scale will be implemented only when the Pay Commission recommends and the government will accept it. However, despite the passing of six months of the announcement of CPC formation, a formal notification is yet to be issued regarding the appointment of the members of its Pay Commission and the chairman of its chairman.

Demand for details of eighth pay commission

After there was no clarity about the formation of the Pay Commission, now the MPs have demanded detailed details about the delay, appointed president and members and its terms of reference. It is worth noting that on behalf of the Finance Ministry, the Terms of Reference (TOR) is being awaited by the Finance Ministry, including the formation of the Chairman of the Pay Commission and its members. So far, neither the Terms of References have been finalized nor notes have been noted about it.

It is worth noting that a pay commission is formed on 10 years to review the salary of central employees and their pension. In view of inflation and other things on behalf of the Commission, it is recommended to increase other facilities including basic-allowance and bonus.
