8th Pay Commission: There has been a continuous stir for the last several days regarding the Eighth Pay Commission. After continuous rounds of meetings, their demands are being asked from the employee organizations. For which after all the praise was on 31st May. Now recently once again the last date for this has been changed. Now employees can send their suggestions, memorandum and demands till June 15, 2026.

Update on fitment factor
At present, the most discussed thing is the fitment factor, because on the basis of this the new basic salary of the employees will be decided. Fitment factor is a multiplier by which the existing basic salary is converted into the new basic salary.

Also read: LPG Price Hike: LPG gas cylinder will become more expensive, Central Government made it clear, also gave the reason.

Demands of 8th Pay Commission
The government has not yet declared any official fitment factor for the 8th Pay Commission. However, employee organizations, pensioners’ groups and experts have put forward their demands before the government. At present, proposals ranging from 1.92 to 3.83 have come forward regarding fitment factor. It is clear from this that the expectations of the employees are very high, while the government will also have to keep in mind the financial burden.

The staff side of the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM) has demanded a fitment factor of 3.83, which is one of the biggest demands so far.

National Pensioners Organization (NPO) has suggested a fitment factor of 3.25 and Indian Trade Union Congress (ITUC) has suggested 3.0.

Many employee organizations of Jammu and Kashmir have demanded fitment factor between 2.86 to 3.68.

On the other hand, former Finance Secretary Subhash Chandra Garg believes that the government can ultimately approve 1.92 fitment factor.

Also read: Rajesh Exports: Shares of Rajesh Exports fell for the third consecutive day amid allegations of embezzlement and rigging, the company may also be removed from PLI scheme.

That is, at present there are different demands from different parties, but the final decision will be taken only after the recommendations of the government and the 8th Pay Commission.

If the views of these organizations are accepted then how much will the salary of the employees getting minimum salary of Rs 18000 increase, let us know.

This means that the minimum basic salary may increase by 92% to 283%. Which may also affect the pay matrix and allowances. The 8th Pay Commission can bring a new structure by changing the existing pay matrix. There will be an equal increase in the basic salary of all pay levels.

When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?
Let us tell you that the Central Government had announced the 8th Pay Commission on 17 January 2025. It has been considered effective from January 1, 2026. However, the commission has got 18 months to submit its report. Therefore the report is expected to come by mid-2027. After this, after getting the approval of the Union Cabinet, the benefit of actual salary increase can be available in mid-2027 or early 2028.

8th Pay Commission Latest Update: Now the work regarding the 8th Pay Commission is no longer limited to papers only. Rather, it is being taken forward at the grassroots level also. Commission teams are visiting different states. Also, direct talks are going on with employee organizations and unions. Due to which efforts are being made to understand their demands and suggestions properly.

This entire process will affect about 45 lakh central government employees and 60 lakh pensioners. For this reason, the Commission is moving rapidly towards preparing the report keeping every aspect in mind. Let us know about this.

Meetings being held in different cities

The 8th Pay Commission has recently held talks with the employee organizations of Uttarakhand. Now the schedule of further meetings has also been decided. The meeting is going to be held in Delhi between 28th and 30th April. In May, the Commission team will also meet other organizations of Pune and Maharashtra and collect their suggestions and feedback.

Demand for change in basic salary and allowances

Pay Commission is considering not only basic salary but also TA, HRA and other facilities. Employees believe that improvement in these allowances is necessary.

Along with this, demand for increase in basic pay has also been made by many employee organizations. In which it has been proposed to increase the minimum salary from Rs 18,000 to approximately Rs 69,000.

Demand to increase fitment factor

Under the 8th Pay Commission, the drafting committee of the Joint Forum of Employees Organizations (NC-JCM) has demanded to increase the fitment factor. So that there can be a big change in the salary structure.

According to the organization, the fitment factor should be increased to 3.833. If the central government accepts these suggestions, there will be a huge increase in the salaries of the employees.

8th Pay commission: Central government employees and pensioners are currently waiting for the announcement of their eighth pay scale. It is expected that the 8th Pay Commission will bring big relief for them. If this is implemented soon, we may see a significant increase in the ‘take-home’ salary of the employees. Here we explain to you a little mathematics related to this.

How much can the salary increase?
According to experts, the fitment factor can be increased from 2.57 to 3.5 or more in the 8th Pay Commission. The increase in fitment factor has a direct impact on the basic salary. For example, if the minimum basic salary of an employee is Rs 18 thousand, then depending on the new fitment factor it can increase to around Rs 25 thousand to Rs 30 thousand. This will significantly increase the total salary you take home.

‘Take-home’ salary formula
Revised Basic Pay= Basic Pay*Fitment Factor

Impact on take-home salary

With increase in basic salary, dearness allowance (DA) will also increase.
House rent allowance (HRA) and other allowances will also increase.
Due to increase in total gross salary, in-hand salary will be higher.

However, in some cases, the increase in PF and other deductions may initially make a slight difference in the take-home, but the overall benefit will be more.

What is included in ‘take-home’ salary?
Your monthly salary includes not only basic but also many other allowances. Let us tell.

Basic Pay: about 51.5%
Dearness Allowance (DA): about 30.9%
HRA: about 15.4%
Transport Allowance: about 2.2%

Let us tell you that DA is reset initially, so even if there is an increase in basic salary in your first pay slip under the new commission, there will not be much increase.

Let us tell you that this time there has been a delay in the announcement of the 8th pay scale. Due to which there is a lot of commotion among the employees. The announcement which is due by the end of March has not been made yet. In such a situation, there is a dilemma among the working class. However, it is expected that it will be announced soon.

8th Pay Commission Latest Update: The curiosity about the 8th Pay Commission is continuously increasing among central employees and pensioners. More than 48 lakh central employees and more than 68 lakh pensioners are waiting for the new salary. The tenure of the Seventh Pay Commission has ended on 31 December 2025. After which naturally expectations are linked to the 8th Pay Commission.

Meanwhile, the Central Government has taken an important step to speed up the work of the Commission. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of a new director in the 8th Pay Commission.

This appointment is being considered important because the government now does not want to allow any delay regarding the Eighth Pay Commission. Let us know who has been made the new director…..

Appointment of new director in 8th Pay Commission

Under the orders of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), this important responsibility has been entrusted to Krishna VR, a senior officer of 2009 batch of Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS). He has been brought on deputation to the Department of Expenditure of the Finance Ministry through the Central Staffing Scheme.

This step is being seen as an indication that the government wants to speed up the process of preparing the commission’s report and does not want any delay in it.

When can I get salary benefits?

The biggest question in the minds of the employees is when will they start getting the benefits of revised salary. Recently, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary had given important information on this in the Parliament. The government has said that the notification for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission was issued on 3 November 2025.

According to the rules, the commission has been given 18 months to prepare its recommendations. If seen accordingly, the report of the commission may come by the middle of the year 2027. The government will take further action only after the recommendations come. The government reviews the report and passes it. In such a situation, there is no complete clarity regarding salary increase.

8th Pay Commission Latest Update: Central employees and pensioners are eagerly waiting for the 8th Pay Commission. At the same time, now an important update has come out regarding the 8th Pay Commission for Central Government employees. In response to a question asked in the Rajya Sabha, the government said that the formal formation of the commission has already been done. Its notification was issued on 3 November 2025.

The Finance Ministry also clarified in a written reply on Tuesday that the Commission will give its recommendations within the stipulated time frame. Rajya Sabha MPs had asked the government which issues the 8th Pay Commission would review and when its recommendations would be implemented. The government has responded to this…

Government gave information

Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed in the Rajya Sabha that the government will review the conditions of salary, allowances and pension of employees and pensioners under the 8th Pay Commission. He further said that the commission will present its recommendations as per the stipulated time limit.

Let us tell you that the Commission has been given 18 months time to submit its report. This clearly shows that the commission will submit its report to the government in the year 2027. Further action will be taken by the government only after the recommendations are received. That means, central employees may have to wait a long time for the Eighth Pay Commission.

The picture is not yet clear on the increase in expenditure due to Pay Commission.

The MPs also raised an important question related to the 8th Pay Commission that how much additional burden will it put on the government budget if its recommendations are implemented. On this, the government made it clear that at present it is not possible to make an accurate estimate of this expenditure.

According to the government, until the commission submits its report and gets approval, the actual financial impact cannot be assessed. This means that the entire plan related to the budget can be prepared only after the final report of the commission comes.

Strike of employee organizations on 12 February 2026

The Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers (CCGEW) has announced a one-day strike across the country on 12 February 2026. The major demands of the organizations include 20 percent interim relief, adding 50 percent dearness allowance to the basic salary and implementing the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) by abolishing NPS. Employees organizations will take to the streets tomorrow with these demands.

8th Pay Commission: These days, a message is becoming increasingly viral on many social media apps like WhatsApp, in which it is being claimed that under the Finance Act 2025, the benefits of increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and pay commission to retired government employees will stop. Of course, this claim has given sleepless nights to lakhs of pensioners. However, now they are going to get relief from the clarification given by the government. The Central Government’s press agency Press Information Bureau (PIB) has denied this claim and called it all true. It has also appealed to the people not to trust such misleading messages and to verify the authorized source before sharing them.

PIB investigated the claim

PIB said in a social media post on the
PIB Factcheck said that the only amendment made in Rule 37 of the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021 is that if a government employee is dismissed due to any wrongdoing, then the pension and other benefits received by him after retirement will be confiscated. Apart from these, general retired employees will continue to get the benefit of DA increase or pay commission. PIB In May this year, PIB had issued a press release informing about the amendment made in Rule 37 of CCS (Pension) Rules 2025.
