Government gave information

Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed in the Rajya Sabha that the government will review the conditions of salary, allowances and pension of employees and pensioners under the 8th Pay Commission. He further said that the commission will present its recommendations as per the stipulated time limit.

Let us tell you that the Commission has been given 18 months time to submit its report. This clearly shows that the commission will submit its report to the government in the year 2027. Further action will be taken by the government only after the recommendations are received. That means, central employees may have to wait a long time for the Eighth Pay Commission.

The picture is not yet clear on the increase in expenditure due to Pay Commission.

The MPs also raised an important question related to the 8th Pay Commission that how much additional burden will it put on the government budget if its recommendations are implemented. On this, the government made it clear that at present it is not possible to make an accurate estimate of this expenditure.

According to the government, until the commission submits its report and gets approval, the actual financial impact cannot be assessed. This means that the entire plan related to the budget can be prepared only after the final report of the commission comes.

Strike of employee organizations on 12 February 2026

The Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers (CCGEW) has announced a one-day strike across the country on 12 February 2026. The major demands of the organizations include 20 percent interim relief, adding 50 percent dearness allowance to the basic salary and implementing the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) by abolishing NPS. Employees organizations will take to the streets tomorrow with these demands.

8th Pay Commission Latest News: Discussions regarding the Eighth Pay Commission have been going on for a long time between central employees and pensioners. However, now slowly it seems to be changing into reality. The questions that were in the minds of the employees regarding the formation of the Pay Commission and its functioning, now seem to be answered.

In the third month of the formation of the commission, the government has intensified its preparations. Most importantly, the Commission has been given an official office in the capital to start its work. Due to which there is hope that soon good news may emerge regarding the 8th Pay Commission.

The work of the 8th Pay Commission has gained momentum

There is a relief news for the central employees that the 8th Pay Commission has now formally started its functioning. The government has provided an office for the commission in ‘Chandralok Building’ located at Janpath, New Delhi.

The Commission will complete all its work from this office. At present the process of recruitment of staff is going on on deputation basis. Necessary notifications have also been issued for this. Due to which the preparations of the Commission seem to be accelerating.

15 months left

According to the information received from the government, the formation of the commission was officially approved through a resolution on 3 November 2025. Under the rules, the commission has to submit its recommendations within 18 months from the date of issue of the notification.

This means that the commission will have to submit its report to the government by mid-2027. At present, about three months of formation have been completed and about 15 months are still left.

Important meeting will be held on 25th February

The eyes of the central employees are fixed on an important date of this month i.e. February. An important meeting of the National Council of JCM (Staff Side) is going to be held on 25th February. In which many important issues will be considered.

The special thing is that in this meeting there is a possibility of detailed discussion on preparing and finalizing the memorandum related to the 8th Pay Commission. Due to which the direction of further process can be decided.

Rules Changing From January 2026: Now only a few days are left for the year 2025 to end. The new year is starting from next week. Many important changes are going to happen in the year 2026, which will have a direct impact on people’s pockets.

Among these changes, the main ones are going to be PAN Aadhaar link, LPG gas cylinder, 8th Pay Commission, change in interest rates and change in credit card rules etc. Let us know about them…

1. PAN-Aadhaar Link

The government has set the last date for linking PAN card with Aadhar card as 31 December 2025. If for some reason someone does not link PAN card to Aadhaar, then their PAN card will be closed from January 1, 2026.

Due to which you will have to face difficulty in doing PAN card related work. If you have not yet linked PAN with Aadhaar, you should complete this task soon.

2. 8th Pay Commission

The Central Government is expected to implement the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission from January 1, 2026. For the last few days, discussions are going on in full swing regarding the 8th Pay Commission.

At the beginning of the new year, the government can give New Year gifts to its central employees. However, even if there is some delay, the employees will be given profits in the form of arrears.

3. Ration card rules will change

In the new year, the government will try to further simplify the rules related to ration cards. Now you will not have to visit the office to get a ration card. The online application process for this has started. Due to which it is expected that the people of rural areas will get its benefit.

4. There may be change in the prices of LPG gas

The prices of LPG and commercial gas cylinders are reviewed on the 1st of every month. In December, the price of commercial gas was reduced by about Rs 10. Now with the beginning of the new year, it is expected that there may be relief in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders. Due to which the common people will directly benefit.

5. Big change in credit card rules

There is going to be a change in the rules related to credit cards in the new year. Till now, credit bureaus used to update credit scores every 15 days, but from January 1, 2026, this process will happen weekly i.e. every 7 days. With this, information about loan eligibility and credit history will be available more quickly and in almost real-time.
