Eighth Pay Commission New Updates: This is big news for more than one crore government employees and pensioners, who have been waiting for the recommendations and salary increase of the Eighth Pay Commission for a long time. The Joint Consultative Committee (NC JCM) of the National Council (Staff Side) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding significant amendments in the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the Eighth Pay Commission.

This letter has also been marked to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In this, a request has been made to restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). Besides, a demand has been made to amend the pension of retired employees and include important clauses of the previous Pay Commission.

According to the report of Economic Times, after the declaration of ToR of the Eighth Pay Commission, many central employee organizations have also sent letters to the Central Government demanding amendments. This week, Confederation of Central Employees & Workers had also written a letter to the Finance Ministry raising similar demands.

Major demands for changes in TOR

NC JCM Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra said that the amendment in the ToR will ensure protection of the interests of the armed forces, both current and retired personnel. According to the Economic Times report, the major changes that NC JCM has demanded from the government are:

• The “Expectation of Stakeholders” clause of the Seventh Pay Commission should be included in the ToR of the Eighth Pay Commission.
• The pension of all pensioners should be amended.
• About 26 lakh employees covered under NPS should be included in the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
• The date of implementation of the Old Pension Scheme should be declared as 1 January 2026.
• Interim relief of 20% should be provided to the employees.

8th pay commission news: A new announcement regarding the Eighth Pay Commission may soon be made by the Central Government. Experts believe that the government cannot take much time to prepare the draft of the 8th salary. Because the tenure of the 7th Pay Commission will end on 31st December. After this the government will have to take necessary steps.

Under which the government can appoint members of the new commission. At present the Central Government is reviewing the suggestions received from the states and the Finance Department as well as other departments. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary has informed that the government is actively working on this subject. He also said that the notification related to the 8th Central Pay Commission will be issued by the government at the right time.

When can 8th pay be implemented?

With the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, more than 50 lakh employees and about 65 lakh pensioners will get financial benefits. If we look at the time frame for implementation of the last pay commission, it takes 2 to 3 years. Due to which it is expected that the 8th Pay Commission will be implemented by 2028. However, the salary increase in these years will be given by the government to all the employees in the form of bonus. That means, they will not suffer any kind of loss.

As soon as the commission will be made once and the term of reference i.e. TOR is fixed. Because due to the delay in this, there is tremendous resentment among government employees.

If a step is not taken in this direction in a hurry, then that resentment will also be seen outside. He said that the cabinet secretary has also been told about this. Shiv Gopal Mishra said that when all this is fixed, only then he will go to the government how much minimum veg and fitment factor formula is needed. Apart from this, how many allowances should be increased.

Delay in government employees

Shiv Gopal Mishra says that he hopes that there will be no big difference between the Pay Commission of the last time and this time as soon as the decisions are taken on TOR. He said that term of reference is necessary for any commission. But when it comes to the Pay Commission, it is even more important.

A very good news may soon come for those who do government jobs. Especially for those employees who are serving as Level-4 posts, such as junior clerks. Recently, reports are indicated that after the 8th Pay Commission is implemented, there can be a big jump in the salary of these employees.

How much is salary now?

Currently, the basic salary of junior clerk is 25,500 per month. Along with this, they are also given dearness allowance (DA), travel allowance (TA), house rent allowance (HRA) and other facilities. By adding all this, the in-hand salary of a junior clerk is around 35,000 to 40,000. But if the new pay commission is applicable, then this amount can increase to a great extent.

How will the new salary be decided?

Fitment Factor is the main basis of government pay hike. It was 2.57 in the 7th Pay Commission, due to which the minimum wage increased from 7,000 to 18,000. Now three possible fitment factor for the 8th Pay Commission has surfaced- 1.92, 2.08 and 2.86. If the government approves the highest 2.86 factor, then the minimum wage can be directly from 18,000 to 51,480. All Group-C employees will directly benefit from this, including junior clerks.

What will be the benefit of junior clerk?

If this fitment factor applies to junior clerks, then their new basic salary can reach 72,930 per month. That is, a direct increase of about 47,000. Apart from this, when basic increases, allowances like DA, HRA and TA will also increase. That is, in-hand salary will also become good.
