8th Pay Commission: The new year 2026 has started. In such a situation, the expectations of about 1.19 crore central employees and pensioners of the country have increased regarding the Eighth Pay Commission. There are discussions on the lips of every central employee regarding increase in salary.

However, no official statement has yet come from the Central Government regarding the Eighth Pay Commission in the year 2026. In such a situation, there is doubt about when the Eighth Pay Commission will be implemented. If we look at the past trend, after the formation of the commission, it definitely takes some time for the new pay commission to be implemented. It is expected that the recommendations of the new Pay Commission may be implemented in the year 2027…

When can the commission’s recommendations be implemented?

If we look at the activities of the last one year, the government had announced the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission on January 15, 2025. However, after this the process could not progress for a long time. About 10 months later, on 28 October, its official gazette notification was issued. In which the Commission has been given 18 months time to submit its report.

If we add 18 months from October 2025, the fixed deadline is July 2027. Looking at the current situation, it is believed that central employees and pensioners are expected to get the benefit of increased salary between 2027 or early 2028.

What is the reason for this delay?

The Pay Commission has been given 18 months to prepare its report. After the report comes, it takes about 6 more months for the recommendations to be considered and approved by the cabinet. That means it takes about two years to complete the process.

For this reason, employees can be expected to get the actual benefit of the new salary in late 2027 or early 2028.

New Rules from 1 January 2026: With the beginning of the new year 2026, there have been changes in many important rules related to the everyday life of common people, which will have a direct impact on the pockets. These changes include everything from LPG gas prices to car prices, banking rules, UPI, SIM verification and government schemes. While on one hand the new year has brought new expectations, on the other hand expenses have also increased due to some decisions.

lpg cylinder expensive

First of all, talking about LPG cylinder, the price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder has been increased by Rs 111 from January 1, 2026. In Delhi, the price of this cylinder has now increased from Rs 1580.50 to Rs 1691.50. In Kolkata its price has increased from Rs 1684 to Rs 1795, in Chennai it has increased from Rs 1739.50 to Rs 1849.50 and in Mumbai it has increased from Rs 1531.50 to Rs 1642.50. Due to this, the costs of hotels, restaurants and small businessmen are likely to increase.

On the beginning of the new year, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has given relief to its consumers. The company has announced a reduction in the prices of domestic piped natural gas (PNG) by up to 70 paise per standard cubic meter. After this cut, the new price of PNG in the national capital Delhi has come down to Rs 47.89 per SCM.

This decision will especially benefit urban households, where a large number of people use PNG for cooking. This reduction in gas prices amid rising inflation can prove helpful in reducing the burden on the domestic budget and is being considered as a positive beginning of the new year for consumers.

car becomes expensive

With the new year, buying a car has also become expensive. From January 1, 2026, many auto companies have increased the prices of their vehicles. BMW, Renault and Nissan have announced to increase the prices of their vehicles by Rs 3,000 to three percent. At the same time, Honda and Tata Motors have also indicated about increasing the prices, due to which the 2026 model cars may be more expensive than last year.

Changes related to FD, UPI and SIM

Changes in the rules related to banking and digital payments have also come into effect. From January 1, 2026, the rules for UPI and other digital transactions have been made more stringent than before, so that online fraud can be curbed. Along with this, the process of verification of SIM card has also been tightened. It is a matter of relief that many banks including HDFC Bank, SBI and PNB have announced reduction in loan interest rates, which has become effective from the new year.

PM Kisan Yojana

Apart from this, some important changes have also been made in PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. In states like Uttar Pradesh, now Unique Farmer ID has been made mandatory to avail the benefits of the scheme. Also, if crops are damaged by wild animals and a report is filed within 72 hours, now that loss can also be compensated under the scheme.

Eighth Pay Commission

The new year has proved to be important for central employees and pensioners regarding the Eighth Pay Commission. The tenure of the Seventh Pay Commission ended on 31 December 2025, after which the Eighth Pay Commission has been formally implemented from 1 January 2026. This was being awaited for a long time, because there was hope of increase in salary and pension associated with it.

However, according to experts, at present its impact will be limited only to the paper process. This means that the record of the increased salary and allowances of the employees will be prepared, but it may take some time to get the actual increased salary and arrears. Only after the government issues the final notification regarding the new pay structure, fitment factor and allowances, its benefits will be available directly to the employees and pensioners. In such a situation, everyone will have to be prepared to wait a little longer.

Overall, while these changes implemented from January 1, 2026 have brought relief in some cases, the expenses of the common man are going to increase on many fronts. In such a situation, with the beginning of the new year, it has become very important to understand these rules and make financial plans accordingly.

8th Pay Commission: The year 2026 is going to start from tomorrow and with the new year, the eyes of central employees and pensioners are fixed on the Eighth Pay Commission. This issue has become the most important in the new year for the employees who have been waiting for salary hike for a long time. This is going to have a direct impact on both their salary and pension.

It is believed that the 8th Central Pay Commission may come into effect from January 1, 2026. The recommendations of the commission are likely to come by May 2027. If this is implemented retrospectively considering past tradition, then employees and pensioners are expected to receive arrears from January 2026. Since the period of 7th Pay Commission is ending on 31 December 2025, the new Pay Commission can also be implemented on the same lines.

When will the 8th Pay Commission be effective?

No firm date has been officially given by the Central Government for the implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission. Recently, an indication was received from the government in the Parliament that the date will be given only after the commission’s recommendation.

Recently the 8th Pay Commission has been constituted. It is expected to take some time for its recommendations to be implemented. If the Commission completes its work even within the stipulated time, then there is a possibility of the Eighth Pay Commission being implemented in late 2027 or early 2028.

Information not available from Terms of Reference

The Eighth Pay Commission was announced by the Central Government in January 2025. After this, the terms of reference were approved in October 2025. Information about the date of implementation of the new pay commission was not given in the terms of reference.

Some employee organizations had also written letters to the government on this subject. If the Eighth Pay Commission comes into effect from January 1, 2026, the outstanding amount will be paid to the employees as arrears.

8th Pay Commission: The year 2025 is about to end. The year 2026 is starting from this week. This year has brought many changes in many ways. News related to the 8th Pay Commission of Central Employees has made headlines almost throughout the year. Let us know, what new things happened regarding the eighth pay commission this year and what changes are expected in 2026?

What happened regarding the 8th Pay Commission in 2025?

In the year 2025, the government took some important decisions regarding the 8th Pay Commission. First of all, it was decided that a new pay commission would be constituted to review the salary, pension and allowances of central government employees and pensioners. So that the existing salary structure can be reviewed.

After this, the government formally constituted the 8th Pay Commission and the appointment of its chairman and other members was also completed. Besides, the Term of Reference (TOR) for the 8th Pay Commission has also been released.

Doubt regarding 8th Pay Commission in 2026

The 10-year tenure of the 7th Pay Commission is coming to an end on 31st December, the last day of the year 2025. However, after this it has not yet been clarified by the Central Government whether the 8th Pay Commission will be implemented from January 1, 2026 or not.

Recently, the government had indicated in the Parliament that the date will be decided when the Commission submits its recommendations. Only 1 day is left for the year 2026 to start. In such a situation, getting a new salary is not certain.

Why is there little hope of the report coming in 2026?

Regarding the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission, it is expected that it will be difficult to fulfill it in the year 2026. The commission has been constituted recently and the government has given the commission 18 months time to complete the work.

If the process is completed within the stipulated time frame, recommendations may emerge in 2027. Even after this, the approval of the government will also be necessary before implementing them. However, there is still hope for arrears for employees and pensioners.

Many changes will be seen in the new year i.e. 2026. Many economic rules will be changed this year. This will have a direct impact on the pockets of the common citizen. The new rules will come into effect from January, the first month of the year. These include LPG gas, PAN, Aadhaar and many other things. Let us know which rules will change.

The new year will start with these changes

In the new year, there will be a series of changes in UPI, SIM, messaging rules. In this regard, rules related to UPI and digital payments will be tightened. To avoid fraud, the rules for SIM verification will be made more strict. Among these, there are preparations to curb some messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram, so that the fraud caused by them can be reduced.

Apart from these, the date for linking PAN and Aadhaar will also end in this December. If these are not linked, they will become inactive from January 1. Due to this you will not be able to avail the benefits of ITR refund, receipt and banking. You will also be deprived of benefits from government schemes.

The government is also going to change the rules related to ITR this year. The government will implement the new Income Tax Act 2025 in April. This will be applicable in place of Income Tax Act 1961. There are speculations that the 8th Pay Commission will become effective this year. The Seventh Pay Commission will become ineffective from December 31.

These big changes will happen in the banking system

A change will be made in the banking system. Here loan rates will be reduced in SBI, Punjab National Bank and HDFS Bank. The decision will come into effect from January 1. In this way, new fixed deposit interest rates will be applicable from January.

There will be change in LPG cylinder prices

Changes will also be seen in the prices of LPG cylinders. LPG rates may increase or decrease from January 1. This will affect your budget. Recently, gas cylinder rates were reduced by Rs 10 from December. Apart from these, changes will also be seen in the prices of CNG-PNG, ATF (airplane fuel).

Farmers and employees will get benefits

From January 2026, government employees may receive salaries on the basis of the recommendations of the Eighth Pay Commission. Apart from this, a new unique ID will be given to the farmers to avail the benefits of the new scheme PM Kisan. Under this, the government will cover complaints like crop insurance scheme, crop damage caused by wild animals, etc. Vehicle prices will increase in the year 2026. There will be an increase in the prices of cars and bikes.

8th Pay Commission: The tenure of the Seventh Pay Commission is ending on 31st December 2025, the last date of this month, hence lakhs of central employees and pensioners of the country are now eagerly waiting for the implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission. Questions are constantly arising in the minds of employees that when will the new pay commission be implemented, what will be its process and how much increase will they see in their salaries.

Taking the first important step in this direction, the government has approved the Terms of Reference of the Eighth Pay Commission through the Union Cabinet in October. After this, the Commission has been given 18 months time from November 2025 to prepare its recommendations, during which an in-depth study will be done on the pay structure, fitment factor, revision of allowances and other financial aspects.

When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?

Although it is officially expected that the Eighth Pay Commission may be implemented from January 1, 2026, but in reality it may take some more time for the increased salary to reach the accounts of the employees. According to economic experts, it seems difficult to start the payment of revised salaries probably before the end of 2026 or the financial year 2026-27.

This will not be the first time, because even before this, delays have been seen in implementing the recommendations of many pay commissions. If there is a delay, the government can generally pay the arrears considering January 1, 2026 as the date.

How much will the money increase?

As far as salary increase is concerned, it will completely depend on the fitment factor, revision in basic pay and restructuring of allowances. It is believed that this time the salary increase may be slightly higher than the previous pay commission, although its final decision will depend on the recommendations of the commission and the approval of the government.

Overall, the Eighth Pay Commission may bring a big change for central employees and pensioners, but they may have to wait a little longer to get its real benefits.

In the country’s largest government bank, State Bank of India (SBI), the job of Probationary Officer i.e. SBI PO is most liked among the youth. The biggest reason for this is good salary, strong career and social respect. Every year lakhs of candidates prepare for SBI PO exam. In such a situation, it is important to know how much salary SBI PO gets at present and how much can their earnings increase after the implementation of 8th Pay Commission.

At present the basic salary of SBI PO is Rs 56,480 per month. This includes basic salary and advance increment of Rs 48,480. Apart from this, special allowance, dearness allowance, house rent allowance and other facilities are also given.

SBI PO allowances

SBI PO salary is not limited to basic pay only. They get many types of allowances, which increase their monthly earnings.

Special allowance is around Rs 14,967.

Dearness Allowance i.e. DA is approximately Rs 15,327.

If the posting is in a big city then house rent allowance is given around Rs 4,518.

Apart from this, location allowance is around Rs 1,200 and learning allowance is around Rs 850.

Including all these, the gross salary of SBI PO comes to around Rs 93,000 per month.

How much salary comes in hand after deduction?

There are also some deductions from the gross salary. These include PF, income tax, professional tax and pension amount. On an average, there is a deduction of around Rs 12,000 every month. The net salary that SBI PO gets after deduction is approximately Rs 80,000 to 82,000 per month. This is the reason why SBI PO job is counted among the top banking jobs in the country.

Role of fitment factor in 8th Pay Commission

Fitment factor is used in the Pay Commission to increase the salary. At present there is discussion that the fitment factor in the 8th Pay Commission may be 2.5. This means that the new salary can be decided by multiplying the existing basic salary by 2.5 times.

How much will the salary of SBI PO increase after the implementation of 8th Pay Commission?

If fitment factor 2.5 is implemented, then there may be a big jump in the basic salary of SBI PO. The current basic pay is Rs 56,480. According to fitment factor 2.5, it can increase to around Rs 1,41,200. Along with this, DA, HRA and other allowances will also increase on the basis of new basic salary. In such a situation, the total gross salary of SBI PO can be around Rs 1.5 lakh or even more.

Eighth Pay Commission Updates: These days, a news is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which it is being claimed that Central Government pensioners will neither get the benefit of the Eighth Pay Commission nor will they be given the benefit of any increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). After this claim, there was confusion and worry among lakhs of pensioners and employees. However, while clarifying the position on this entire matter, the Central Government has termed all such claims as completely wrong and misleading.

The government has clarified that the facilities of pensioners under the Finance Act 2025 have not been withdrawn nor have any benefits related to the Eighth Pay Commission or DA been abolished.

Will retirement benefits end?

It has also been said by the government that the amendments made in the pension rules are not intended to affect the general pensioners. These changes apply only to some special and exceptional cases. Press Information Bureau (PIB), while fact-checking these claims circulating on social media, has made it clear that the Central Government has not made any new policy under which retirement benefits of employees should be stopped after retirement.

Will retired Govt employees stop getting DA hikes & Pay Commission benefits under the Finance Act 2025

A message circulating on #WhatsApp claims that the Central Government has withdrawn post-retirement benefits like DA hikes and Pay Commission revisions for retired… pic.twitter.com/E2mCRMPObO

 — PIB Fact Check (@PIBFactCheck) November 13, 2025

PIB’s Fact Check Unit said through a post on social media platform ‘X’ that this message being spread on WhatsApp and other messaging apps is completely fake and has nothing to do with the truth.

According to PIB, the amendment made in CCS (Pension) Rules 2021 is related to Rule 37 (29C). Under this amended provision, action can be taken only against those retired employees of PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) who have been removed from service due to serious misconduct or misbehavior. There is a provision to stop retirement benefits only in such cases.

What changes happened?

This has nothing to do with ordinary employees or pensioners who have served honestly. Despite this, this rule is being misinterpreted on social media and is being said to be applicable to all pensioners, which is completely misleading.

It is noteworthy that recently the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission has been announced. Although it took some time to form its formal committee, its terms of reference have been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month. The commission has been given 18 months to present its recommendations to the government.

More than 50 lakh central employees and about 69 lakh pensioners are expected to get direct benefits from the Eighth Pay Commission. In such a situation, the government has a clear message that the benefits related to pension and salary are completely safe and there is no need to believe the rumors spreading on social media.

However, it has not yet been clarified by the government whether the Eighth Pay Commission will be implemented from January 1, 2026 or not. The committee constituted for the Eighth Pay Commission may take up to 18 months from the date of notification (3 November 2025) to submit its report on the Pay Commission. Only after this will a decision be taken as to when it is to be implemented. Meanwhile, the Railways will have to improve its balance sheet so that it can bear the additional expenditure on employee salaries and does not face too much pressure.

The government has already informed that the Terms of Reference of the 8th Pay Commission will be notified on November 3, 2025. There are 50.14 lakh central employees and about 69 lakh pensioners across the country, who will get the direct benefit of salary hike after the recommendations of this commission.

DA Hike News: These days a message is going viral on the social media app WhatsApp, in which it is being claimed that the Central Government has decided to abolish some special benefits given to retired government employees after retirement. It has been said in the WhatsApp message that this change is part of the Finance Act 2025.

It has been claimed in the message that under the new rule, pensioners will no longer get any benefit from increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) or future pay commission. One of these includes the upcoming 8th Pay Commission. Apparently the central employees are in tension after this message went viral. Now the government has given clarification regarding this. Let us know what is the truth?

PIB Fact Check has clearly declared this to be a fake claim. It has been clearly stated by the government that the benefits related to DA hike or pay commission for retired employees have not been abolished.

PIB also wrote on This decision of the government is being presented in a distorted manner.
