Veteran actor Tom Alter was born on 22 June 1950 in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. He did his schooling from Woodstock School, Mussoorie. However, later he went to America’s Yale University for higher education. Even though he studied in America, his Hindi and Urdu were excellent. After completing his studies, he returned to India and did an acting course from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune and also won a gold medal.

He loved theater very much, that is why he founded a theater group called ‘Motley’ with Naseeruddin Shah and Benjamin Gilani. He worked in more than 300 films in his career. Apart from this, he also played the role of Mahaguru in the TV show ‘Shaktimaan’. He also wrote many books and was one of the brilliant sports journalists. His popular films include Shatranj Ke Khiladi (1977), Gandhi (1982), Aashiqui (1990), Veer-Zaara (2004), Kranti (1981) and Parinda (1989). However, due to skin cancer, he breathed his last at his home and said goodbye to the world on 29 September 2017 at the age of 67.

Gavin Packard, born June 8, 1964, was an Irish-American but Indian. Because of his looks and body, he was seen in the role of a villain. Before acting, he was a computer expert and American soldier. He was also a national and state level body builder and was the fitness trainer of Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty and Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera. His mother was Konkani Marathi and he studied in Mumbai. He started his career as a dancer in 1986’s ‘Kala Dhandha Gore Log’.

After this, he entered the Malayalam industry in 1988 and played roles in 60 films in about 15 years, which included Karan Arjun (1995), Sadak (1991), Mohra (1994), Tadipar (1993), Chamatkar (1992), Ilaaka (1989) and Yeh Hai Jalwa (2002). However, he had respiratory disease, due to which he died on 18 May 2012.

Born in Sydney, Australia in 1938, Bob Christo rose to fame playing villains. His real name was Robert John Christo and he studied civil engineering. However, fate had something else in mind and he appeared in more than 200 smuggler and don roles in his career. According to media reports, he liked Parveen Babi very much, that is why he left his job and came to India. He started his career in 1980 with Sanjay Khan’s ‘Abdullah’, but stayed away from films in his 20s.

After this he started working as a yoga teacher. He acted brilliantly in films like Namak Halal (1982), Mr. India (1987), Kaalia (1981), Mard (1985), Agneepath (1990) and Toofan (1989). But he breathed his last on 20 March 2011 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. According to doctors, he died due to ventricular valve rupture and heart attack.
