Peace talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan have failed once. Afghan Foreign Minister Muttaki said that the main reason for the failure of talks with Islamabad was the unreasonable demands of the Pakistani delegation. Muttaqi warned that any violation of the territorial integrity of Afghanistan would be given a strong response.

Why did peace talks fail?

Muttaki said, “Pakistani representatives put forward such demands during the talks which were neither practical nor reasonable. One of their demands was to give us a guarantee that there will be no further security incidents in Pakistan. We want friendly relations with Pakistan on the basis of mutual respect. If the other side (Pakistan) thinks of doing something against the sovereignty of Afghanistan, then we are fully prepared to defend ourselves.”

‘Pakistan is trying its strength on potatoes and tomatoes’

He further said that Pakistan’s issues have been going on for a long time, but now it is trying to link them with Afghanistan. According to the report of TOLO News, Muttaki said, “Pakistan, which calls itself a nuclear-rich country, is trying its power on onions, potatoes, tomatoes and poor Afghan refugees.” He has revealed that Pakistan had put pressure on Taliban to take action against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban of harboring TTP terrorists responsible for attacks on its territory. Responding to this, Muttaki said that Pakistan’s internal security problems are of its own making.

Muttaki said, “Pakistan’s problems are not new. Don’t you know that TTP has been active in Pakistan for the last 25 years? Didn’t the Pakistani government itself say that 70 to 80 thousand of their people have been killed in the conflict in the last two decades?” He said Pakistan is using its power to put pressure on Afghanistan by closing trade routes and manipulating refugee-related issues.

Clashes broke out again between Pakistan and Afghanistan on Sunday (October 12, 2025). Both countries have blamed each other for worsening the situation. The Taliban government of Afghanistan has claimed that its forces killed a total of 58 Pakistani soldiers in these latest clashes. The clashes between the two countries started when Pakistan recently bombed alleged terrorist hideouts on the outskirts of Kabul.

Pakistan claimed that more than 200 Taliban fighters were killed in this bombing, while 23 of their soldiers died. At the same time, Taliban spokesperson described the clashes on Sunday (October 12, 2025) as an action taken in response to repeated violations of Afghanistan’s border and airspace.

Actually, the main reason for the increasing tension on the Durand Line between the armies of Pakistan and Afghanistan is Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). This organization has been active in Pakistan for a long time and its aim is to implement Shariat law in Pakistan and destabilize the government.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is also called Pakistani Taliban. It is a banned terrorist organization and extremist group, which is active in the Afghan-Pakistan border area. Pakistan has been continuously alleging that the Afghan Taliban is giving shelter to TTP members, who carry out attacks on Pakistani soil. However, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Aamir Khan Muttaki, during a press conference during his visit to India on Sunday (October 12, 2025), completely rejected all the allegations of Pakistan. He said that not a single member of TTP is active on the soil of his country.

TTP was formed in 2007

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was formed in 2007 under the leadership of Betullah Mehsud. The organization was a coalition of several militant groups that operated somewhat independently. The purpose of which was to wage war against the army in the tribal areas of Pakistan. After the death of Betullah Mehsud, this organization is currently being led by Noor Wali Mehsud, who is the Amir of TTP.

Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said during his visit to India that there is no longer any presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan. He advised Pakistan to also take steps towards peace. Muttaki’s visit coincided with the restoration of full diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and India. Praising India, Muttaki said that during the recent earthquake, India was the first to come forward to help. He said, “Afghanistan considers India a close friend. We want our relations to be based on mutual respect, trade and people-to-people contacts. For this, we are ready to create a consultative system.”

Khawaja Asif claimed that about three years ago he and senior Pakistani officials had gone to Kabul and asked the terrorists present there to close their hideouts, but no concrete assurance was given by the Afghanistan administration. He said that we had told the Afghan officials that about 6 to 7 thousand such people are living on your land, who are a threat to Pakistan. Asif also said that Kabul had suggested a ‘financial agreement’ to keep those people there.

Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan had sought a guarantee from the Afghan authorities that these people would not return to Pakistan, but Afghanistan refused to give any such assurance.
