ICC has declared Abhishek Sharma as the Men’s Player of the Month for September. He has been rewarded for his strong performance in the Asia Cup 2025. On the other hand, Smriti Mandhana has become the Player of the Month among women. Abhishek was the highest run-scorer in the Asia Cup tournament, scoring 314 runs in 7 matches on the basis of his stormy batting.

Abhishek Sharma batted at a staggering strike rate of 200 in the Asia Cup tournament. He was also the batsman who scored the most half-centuries in the entire tournament. There were 3 fifties from his bat. The record of hitting most fours (32) and most sixes (19) in the tournament was also in his name. For this amazing performance he was also chosen Player of the Tournament. His average in the Asia Cup was 44.85.

On the basis of his performance in the Asia Cup, Abhishek Sharma had created history in the ICC T20 batting rankings. He became the player with the highest rating points in T20 batting rankings. He currently has 931 rating points. He broke England’s David Malan’s record of 919 rating points, which he had set in 2020.

On becoming ICC Player of the Month, Abhishek Sharma said, “I am very happy to win the ICC Award. I am also happy that this award has been received for the performance which contributed to India’s victory. I am proud to be a part of the team which can overcome difficult situations and win. Our recent record in T20 reflects the good environment and positive mentality of the team.”

He said, “I was waiting for him. My whole team was waiting for my parents because they are lucky for SRH. We (Abhishek and Head) didn’t talk anything. It was a natural game for us. The partnership promoted me. This innings is very special, because I wanted to break the series of defeat. We did not lose four matches but we never talked about it in the team.”

Abhishek Sharma said in the press conference after the match, “I was ill for 4 days, I was feverish but I am very grateful that there were people like Yuvraj Singh and Suryakumar Yadav around me. They were constantly calling me because they knew that I could do something like this.”
