He believes that the money given to Pakistani players can be used to kill Indians.

Gavaskar wrote in his column in Mid-Day that such reactions are natural considering the incidents between India and Pakistan in the last several years. Veteran Gavaskar told how Pakistani players were banned from IPL after the 2008 Mumbai attacks. After this, emotions have become more sensitive after the Pulwama attack of 2019 and the Pahalgam attack of 2025.

No discussion on buying Pakistani player

Daniel Vettori also revealed that there was no discussion among the management that the team cannot buy any Pakistani player. Whereas earlier reports had come out that IPL teams would ignore Pakistani players in the auction. SRH Leeds also considered buying another Pakistani bowler Usman Tariq and Bangladeshi spinner Rishad Hussain before making a final bid on Abrar Ahmed. In his international T20 career so far, he has taken 52 wickets in 38 matches.
