Gautam Adani: After infrastructure, green energy, port, now Adani Group is going to make big investment in defense sector. Adani Group company Adani Defense and Aerospace is thinking of expanding its ammunition manufacturing factory spread over 500 acres near Kanpur.

In this sequence, there is a preparation to invest Rs 7,000 crore. The company aims to supply about 25 percent of the ammunition requirements for the country’s army, central investigative agencies, police and special units.

The plan is to reduce dependence on imports.

Small caliber ammunition is already being manufactured in the Defense Corridor of Uttar Pradesh near Kanpur. As far as Adani Defense and Aerospace unit is concerned, its annual production capacity is 15 crore rounds, which can be increased to 50 crore rounds in the future.

Adani Group’s plan is to reduce its dependence on explosive materials imported from other countries. Company’s Joint President and Land System Head Ashok Wadhawan said that there is a huge shortage of energy materials at the global level. He said, “Even if you place an order abroad, the delivery can be done only till 2027. We have increased our capacity by collaborating with many foreign suppliers so that the production can continue.”

Business is continuously growing

The company has already received large orders from the Indian Armed Forces and other security agencies. Besides, Adani Defense has also started expanding its export business. Company officials say that they are now supplying ammunition to buyers in Europe and many Asian countries.

Apart from ammunition, Adani Defense has also provided drones and loitering weapons to the Indian Armed Forces. Some of these were also used during ‘Operation Sindoor’. The company manufactures drones in its Hyderabad unit. It also has a joint venture with Israeli company Elbit Advanced, which is known as Adani Elbit Advanced India Limited. Along with making drones, the company also makes unmanned aircraft.

India has touched a new milestone in the field of defense technology. Today, on 25 July, the ULPGM-V3 missile developed by DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) was successfully tested with a drone. The Test took place in Kernool, Andhra Pradesh, where the DRDO team launched this new generation missile in the National Open Area range with UAV i.e. drone.

What is Ulpgm-V3?

ULPGM-V3 (UAV LAUNaged Precision Guided Missile) is a light, smart and high-tech air-to-ground missile. Its weight is around 12.5 kg and has an advanced imaging infrared Sikar, which works “fire and forgate” feature, that is, once set the target, the missile itself marks without any manual guidance. According to the company, this missile can accurately hit the targets up to 4km a day and up to 2.5km at night.

Range, Power and Technology

The ULPGM-V3 has a dual-threst solid propulsion system, which helps to reach the target rapidly. It also has an integrated multiple warhead option and advanced guidance system. DRDO says that this missile specializes in attacking both static and moving targets with track and detection. The V3 has been made even more smart, fast and low-eer tolerance as compared to previous versions.

The way of war in the world is now changing, in which the role of drones has become more important than ever. With this indigenous technology of India, the country’s army can now attack the enemy’s hideouts directly without risk. According to DRDO report, all the necessary trials of the V3 version have been successful. Now its production scale-up will be done so that the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy can use these missiles in operation mode. This system will be useful especially in areas where direct attacking is not empty of danger, such as border, hill or highly guarded locations.
