It would not be wrong if Vaibhav Suryavanshi is called a ‘six-hitting machine’. In his T20 career, he has hit more sixes than fours and there have been very few matches when Vaibhav has not hit even a single six in the innings. Something similar happened in the tri-series being played against Sri Lanka, because Vaibhav did not hit a single six in his innings of 44 runs.

Not hitting even a single six in the innings does not mean that Vaibhav did not crush the bowlers. He hit the bowlers with powerful shots and scored 44 runs in 22 balls at a strike rate of 200. No six was hit in this innings but he definitely hit 9 fours.

This is the same Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who is coming into IPL 2026 after hitting 72 sixes, which is a record in itself. This is the same Suryavanshi, who has hit 116 fours and 134 sixes in his overall T20 career. He often starts the innings with a six, so not getting a single six from his bat in the match against Afghanistan A can indeed be called a rare innings.

36 balls, 12 fours, 0 sixes

In the first match of the tri-series, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was out after scoring only 14 runs against Sri Lanka A. In that innings too, 3 fours came from Vaibhav’s bat. Vaibhav has faced 36 balls in 2 matches of this series, in which 12 fours have come from his bat but till now he has not been able to hit even a single six.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been creating havoc in the last one year, especially in the T20 format and perhaps on this basis, he has been selected in Team India for the Asian Games apart from the England and Ireland tour. But his stormy style is not keeping pace with ODI cricket, because so far in 9 List-A innings he has crossed the 50-run mark only twice.
