Earlier on Tuesday, a BJP worker was beaten to death in Newtown area of ​​Kolkata. It is alleged that TMC supporters have a hand in this incident. After this murder, there was immense anger among the family and local people. The situation became so bad that the police had to resort to lathi charge to control the crowd.

Not only Newtown, there have been reports of violence from many other areas of the state as well. TMC’s office was set on fire in Jagatballabhpur, Howrah, while there was a huge ruckus in the Hog Market area of ​​Kolkata. At the same time, incidents of clashes and arson between TMC and BJP supporters have also come to light in areas like Jalpaiguri, South 24 Parganas and Asansol.

EC is strict regarding incidents of violence

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has adopted a strict stance regarding incidents of violence. He has given clear instructions that immediate action should be taken against those who are involved in inciting violence or sabotage. CEC has asked senior officials of the state like Chief Secretary, DGP, Kolkata Police Commissioner and Chief Directors General (DG) of Central Armed Police Forces to remain alert. Besides, DM, SP and police officers of all the districts have been ordered to patrol continuously so that the situation remains under control.

The Election Commission has also made it clear that any kind of violence will not be tolerated at all after the elections. Those inciting violence and vandalism will be arrested immediately.
