Surya Grahan 2025: The event of eclipse is considered special from religious, astrological and scientific point of view. People have both curiosity and fear regarding the eclipse. Bathing, donation and worship on Amavasya Tithi will all be done on 20th November only. The auspicious time for bathing on Margashirsha Amavasya will be from 05.01 to 05.54 in the morning.

But talking about solar eclipse, no eclipse is taking place on Margashirsha Amavasya i.e. on 19 or 20 November 2025. The constellation of the Sun will change on 19th November. Today the Sun will enter Anuradha Nakshatra. Margashirsha or Aghan Amavasya will be celebrated on 20th November. But any information about solar eclipse occurring on 19th or 20th November has not been confirmed religiously or scientifically.

Why doesn’t an eclipse occur on every new moon?

Solar eclipse occurs only on Amavasya. But solar eclipse does not occur on every Amavasya. The reason for this is that the Moon’s orbit is inclined by about 5 degrees to the plane of the Earth’s orbit. Therefore, most of the time the Moon’s shadow passes above or below the Earth and the correct alignment required for a solar eclipse does not occur. A solar eclipse occurs only when the Sun, Moon and Earth come in a straight line, which does not happen on every Amavasya.
