People started calling it “The Wonder of Zaria”, but the story which started with inspiration, turned into a big controversy within a few days.

How ‘Wonder of Zaria’ went viral

This person named Mahmood Sadis Buba was said to be a resident of Jaria area. He said during a political interview that he is 30 years old, has been a driver and wants to serve the public. People were surprised to see his short stature and child-like face, but he attributed it to his disease (dwarfism). One of his statements, “People have called me to serve” went viral on social media and people started considering it as hope for a new change in politics.

Questions raised on age, matter overturned

But after a few days the whole matter turned upside down. Some documents surfaced on social media, in which it was told that Buba was born in 2010. If this is true, then his age would be only around 15-16 years. According to the rules, to contest parliamentary elections, minimum age of 25 years is required. In such a situation, the question arose that how did he reach the interview?

Evidence came forward, teacher also revealed

The viral documents are said to include passport, birth certificate and school records. Not only this, a former teacher also came forward and claimed that he had taught Buba in junior class and he was only about 16 years old. This increased the controversy further.

The party first saved, then threw out

Initially his party called it a conspiracy and defended it. But as the evidence mounted, the party had to take action. Ultimately, he was thrown out of the election on charges of falsifying his age. After this, Buba himself wrote a letter and announced his withdrawal from the elections.

Now big questions are arising

After this whole matter, the biggest question now is that how did a minor boy pass through the party’s investigation process? Was this a system error or an intentional game? At present, answers to these questions have not been received, but this matter has become a big issue in Nigerian politics and is still a topic of discussion on social media.

After this entire matter came to light, a huge debate broke out on social media. Some people are praising Buba’s courage and saying that no matter his age, his confidence is praiseworthy.
