Pakistan ahmadiyya community: Religious extremists in Pakistan allegedly stopped members of the Ahmedia minority community from offering Eid prayers in at least seven cities. In Punjab, the police arrested two Ahmedia people and registered a case against three others for trying to sacrifice animals during Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid). Before Bakrid, it was announced that if any Ahmedia Muslim sacrifices any animal, then he will be fined 5 lakhs.

The Jamaat-e-Ahdiya Pakistan (JAP) claimed that the radical Islamic party-Tehreek-e-Labback Pakistan (TLP) also forced two Ahmedia people to abandon their religious beliefs, who did the same for fear of killing the crowd. In recent months, a group of religious extremists have been preventing members of the Ahmedia community from offering prayers at their worship sites on Friday.

Eid prayers were stopped in Karachi
According to the Jamaat-e-Ahmedia Pakistan (JAP), Ahmadiyas were stopped from offering Eid prayers in Khushab, Mirpur Khas, Lodharan, Bhakkar, Rajanpur, Umarkot, Larkana and Karachi. He said that religious extremists, along with the local administration, stopped the Ahmadiyya community from offering Eid prayers within their places that offer their prayers. He said that Giri Shahu, the oldest Ahmadi worship site of Lahore, was surrounded by TLP workers on Eid on Saturday and demanded the police to seal it. He said that the police took action on his call and sealed the place of offering Ahmadiya’s prayers.

Jinnah had shown dreams to Ahmadiyya Muslims, could not be fulfilled till date

In fact, Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah had shown the dream to Ahmadiyya Muslims 80 years ago that the discrimination of them would be overcome when Pakistan became, but just 27 years after Pakistan’s formation, the Parliament of Pakistan had declared the second constitution in the reign of Zulfiller Ali Bhutto in 1974 and declared Ahmadia Muslims as non-Muslims and did not feel like Pakistan’s fifth leaders did not feel like Pakistan in 1984. Under the ‘Ordinance XX’ of the then dictator General Zia-ul-Haq, it was a crime for Ahmadiyya Muslims to follow Islamic beliefs, festivals and customs.

Under this law, the Ahmadiyya community can be punished for up to three years and fined for offering Namaz to the Ahmadiyya community, using Islamic greetings “As-Salam-Alakum”, even calling himself a Muslim. Like every year, this time too, on the occasion of Eid ul Azha, the Ahmadiyya community was kept away from Eid prayers and customs in violation of the basic rights of religious freedom.

Pakistan ahmadiyya Muslim: Ahmadiyya Muslim community living in Pakistan had made a historic contribution in the creation of the country by supporting Mohammad Ali Jinnah and the Muslim League. Today, in the same country, they have become victims of religious, social and legal oppression. Eid-ul-Azha is to be celebrated on 2025 (June 7) in Pakistan, but for the Ahmadiyya community, this festival has now become a symbol of fear and pressure.

Police and administration in Punjab and Sindh provinces are threatening the Ahmedia community. The affidavit and compensation bonds are detained to take a signature. Even a ban on sacrifice within the boundary wall is being threatened. In the affidavit, it is written that the Eid-ul-Azha not taking an oath not taking part in any religious ritual. Failure to do so is involved in imposing a fine of 5 lakh PKR. This order is being implemented on the basis of a notification of 2023. According to the report of Lahore Friday Times, it is unconstitutional to forcibly sign such an affidavit and is out of the jurisdiction of local authorities.
