The death of the country’s first woman Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was not just a sad incident, but there were many untold things related to it, which were kept for years. Now the curtain has been lifted from these secrets, Dr. Sneh Bhargava, the first woman director of AIIMS, whose recently published autobiography “The Woman Hu Rain AIIMS” is in discussion these days.

Dr. Sneh Bhargava was honored in 1984 to become the first woman director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. In 1962, as a junior radiologist, he also played an important role in the treatment of the country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Nehru. But the day of October 31, 1984 became the most difficult day of his life.

In his autobiography, Dr. Bhargava writes that the day he took charge in AIIMS, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was brought to the emergency room in the morning in a riddled condition. Her saffron saree was soaked in blood and had 33 bullet marks on the body. Sonia Gandhi had brought her and could just say that she has been shot.

Doctors tried, but no hope left

The team of doctors tried to take out the bullets, which kept falling on the floor of the operation theater, but there was no hope left. It was difficult to get Indira’s B-Negative Blood Group and the stock in the hospital was also over.

Although Indira Gandhi was declared patiently dead, the official announcement of her death was postponed for four hours. Why? Because at that time the President of the country Zail Singh was abroad and Rajiv Gandhi was in the election campaign. Fearing political crisis and rioting, doctors got orders that the efforts should be continued to save the Prime Minister’s life, even if that effort is only for showing.

Big disclosure made at the age of 95

Dr. Bhargava says that our job was to show that we are saving their lives. During this time, anti -Sikh riots started in Delhi. Dr. Bhargava called the police to protect AIIMS Sikh employees and made his house a refugee center. This story of 95 -year -old Dr. Bhargava reminds us that things do not record on many pages of history which decrease behind the curtain.
