Air India has announced to send a special plane to bring back the people stranded in Milan to India on Sunday (October 19, 2025) afternoon. The airline has expressed its commitment to bring back 256 passengers stranded in Milan from Friday (October 17, 2025) to India by special flight. Actually, Air India flight AI138 was scheduled to fly from Milan to Delhi on Friday (October 17, 2025). But due to a technical glitch, the flight was canceled, after which the passengers of the flight are stranded in Milan.

Air India shared a post in this regard on social media platform X on Sunday (October 19). In the post, the airline said, ‘Air India will send a special aircraft from Milan today (Sunday, October 19) to bring back the stranded passengers of flight AI138, which was canceled due to a technical glitch.’

Air India said that it has provided all kinds of immediate facilities including hotel accommodation and food to all the affected passengers. Apart from this, as per the wish of the passengers, arrangements are also being made for full refund or complimentary rescheduling. The airline said that we are committed to providing all possible help to all our passengers.

flight AI138 has had technical problems before too

A similar incident had happened with Air India flight AI138 on August 16, two months before Friday (October 17), when a technical fault was found in the plane during pushback and the journey was cancelled.

Regarding that incident, the airline had said, ‘When the aircraft was getting ready to take off from Milan to Delhi, a maintenance problem was encountered on the aircraft. After this, the operating crew came under the limitations of the required flight duty time, which made it extremely unsafe and inappropriate for them to continue the flight. Therefore the journey was cancelled.

Europe airports took a big cyber attack on Saturday (September 20, 2025). Air India Airline has issued a travel advisory regarding this attack. Actually, this cyber attack took place at many major airports in Europe, including Heathro Airport in London. This cyber attack has greatly affected the check-in and boarding system at airports.

Air India said in its advisory that this problem was caused by the attack on its third-party service provider Collins Aerospace. This check-in process may be delayed. However, the company has also assured that its ground team is continuously working in London, so that the passengers are minimal inconvenience.

Air India released an update on the social media platform X saying, “The check-in process may be delayed due to the problem in a third-party passenger system in Heathro. Our ground team is constantly trying to protect the passengers from inconvenience in London. Flying at Europe’s airports after cyber attack affected

The advisory stated, “A cyber attack led to a delay in flights and cassylation at many major airports in Europe, including Brucells, London Heathro and Berlin. The attack occurred on the Collins Aerospace, which provides check-in and boarding systems for many airports. The Brucells Airport issued a statement confirming that its automated systems shut down due to the late night attack on Friday (September 19, 2025) and only manual check-in and boarding became possible.

AI India will suspend flights between Delhi to US capital Washington DC from September 1. The airline company issued an official statement in this regard on Monday (August 11, 2025). The airline stated the reason behind the cancellation of flights between the new-Delhi-Washington DC that many Boeing 787 Dreamliner will not be available for operations due to the retrofit program (repair work).

The company said in a statement, “This suspension is mainly due to the prescribed decrease in the Air India fleet, as the airline has started repairing its 26 Boeing 787-8 aircraft last month.” Due to this comprehensive repair work launched aimed at improving passenger experience, many aircraft can remain unavailable for a long time in any period by at least 2026.

For the period after September 1, the Washington DC or Washington DC will be contacted by the passengers who book air tickets from Delhi to Delhi and will be offered alternative arrangements as per their personal priorities, which includes re -booking or full fare return in other flights.

Air India said, “Passengers can reach Washington DC via One-Stop connections in New York, Newark, Chicago and San Francisco through flights of Alaska Airline, United Airline and Delta Airlines.”
