Air India is once again going through a big crisis. For this reason, the company has sought financial assistance of Rs 10,000 crore from its owners Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, so that it can get back on track.

After this plane crash in June, the government and aviation regulators tightened the safety audit of all Air India operations. After the accident, there has been a decrease in the confidence of passengers and this has affected both the revenue and reputation of the company.

Why was funding sought?

According to a Bloomberg report, the funds received by Air India will be used primarily in these areas — improving safety and maintenance systems, upgrading engineering infrastructure, employee training and cabin crew skill development, and modernizing operational technology. Through these investments, the company wants to strengthen its safety standards and services again at the international level.

Tata Sons’ stake in Air India is 74.9%, while Singapore Airlines’ stake is 25.1%. Singapore Airlines has said in a statement that it is supporting the modernization and transformation process of Air India in collaboration with Tata Group. However, no official funding has been confirmed yet by both the companies.

Modernization efforts continue

Ever since the Tata Group acquired Air India in 2022, it has been continuously investing in improving the company’s fleet, technology and service quality. However, the Ahmedabad accident has deeply hurt the brand image and safety confidence of Air India. This is why the company is now refocusing its entire strategy around “security and reliability”.

Tata said that at this time they are standing with the affected families and all those communities.

Railways extended help to help

On the other hand, after this incident, all flying at Ahmedabad Airport came to a standstill. In order to evacuate the people trapped in such a situation, the Western Railway took a big step and announced to run additional trains. A statement issued by Western Railway said that after the incident of Ahmedabad plane crash, the disaster management team has been fully working to do the relief and rescue.
