Civil Aviation Minister K.K. Rammohan Naidu said that there is no rigging in the investigation of the Air India aircraft accident on June 12. Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is investigating this aircraft accident. The Union Minister’s statement comes at a time when questions are being raised on the investigation of AAIB.

‘There is no rigging in investigation’

Union Minister Naidu said on Tuesday (October 7, 2025) about the Ahmedabad plane crash that everyone will have to wait for the final investigation report of AAIB to know what was really happened. He said, “There is no rigging or any disturbance in the investigation. This is a very clean and intensive process, which we are doing according to the rules. ”

He said, “The final report will take some time to come. AIB is doing a very transparent and independent study on the final report. We do not want to pressurize them to prepare a report in a hurry so they will take the necessary time for it.”

Pilot Association had made allegations

The Airline Pilots Association of India (ALPA) had alleged that the AAIB’s initial report on the Air India AI-171 aircraft accident in Ahmedabad was prepared in a hurry and under pressure.

RAM Air Turbine (RAT) was deployed after a technical alert on Saturday (October 4, 2025) in flight AI117 from Amritsar to Birmingham. RAT (Ram Air Turbine) is automatically active in the aircraft when an emergency comes in electricity or hydrophical system.

Regarding this, the Union Minister said, “Whenever such incidents happen, we try to find out the root cause of the problem. Once we understand the main reason, we will contact stakeholders, OEMs and whoever is related.

Ahmedabad plane crash

Air India aircraft (AI-171) going from Ahmedabad to London crashed after colliding with the BJ Medical College on 12 June 2025. 260 people including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani were killed in this accident. Only one passenger was left alive. In this, the hostel of the medical college and the people around was also killed.

Amidst the recent incidents of Air India aircraft, the airline’s leading campbell Wilson has said that in view of the large size of the Air India Group, it is completely normal for such incidents. Aviation company is planning to give ‘e-vouchers’ to passengers to make up for its cabin crew to compensate for a decrease in service.

The scheme has been made in the backdrop of the cancellation of flights and delays due to service related problems by passengers and technical faults in some aircraft. Wilson said that like all airline companies, it also faces a variety of operational conditions, some of which are under its control and some are not.

‘Events are normal in view of work’

He said in a message to the employees on September 5, ‘When we focus on us, it is important to provide clear and accurate information and correct reference on time. Therefore, in recent weeks we have been more transparent than normal in reporting events and events, no matter how young they are.

According to him, this transparency will help in creating confidence over time. He said, ‘Initially when we openly informs every small and big incident, then obviously our mention increases in the news. The Air India Group operates more than 1,200 flights every day, almost every minute a flight. In such a situation, all this may take more, but these incidents are common in view of the scale and size of our work.

Air India Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director also said that the airline has empowered its frontline teams that when there is a shortage in service, they can give e-vouchers to passengers so that their problems can be resolved immediately.

He said, ‘We are also working to provide this ability to our cabin crew, so that they can provide immediate solutions to customers during the journey.’ Air India Group, consisting of Air India and Air India Express, operates more than 1,200 flights per day.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said on Sunday (July 20, 2025) that the government should wait for the final report before reaching any conclusion in the aircraft accident in Ahmedabad.

Kinjarapu said, ‘I have full faith in the Bureau of Accident Investigation (AAIB) and their work. He has done a commendable job of decoding the entire black box and providing data in India itself. Along with this, Kinjarapu targeted the Western media and said that there may be some wrong intention in the kind of articles that such media is publishing.

Black box is sent abroad for data

He further said that whenever the black box was found to be damaged in plane accidents, it was always sent abroad to get the data, but this is the first time that AAIB decoded everything here. This is a big success for the country of India.

Minister Kinjarapu said that it would be wrong to draw any conclusions before the investigation and there should be no comment on it. Whatever steps have to be taken in terms of security, we are fully prepared for it.

What was revealed in the first report?

A total of 260 people died in the Air India aircraft accident on 12 June 2025 and AAIB is investigating it. Aircraft number AI-171 going from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick collided with a building immediately after flying. Now only after receiving the final report of AAIB, it will be revealed how this big accident happened with the aircraft.

According to the preliminary inquiry report, a few seconds before the crash, the fuel control switches of both engines of the aircraft were closed. Preliminary investigation reports of 15 pages of the accident revealed that the fuel control switches of both engines were cut off from ‘run’ within a second, due to which the aircraft suddenly started coming down.

This 15 -page report has been given by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on Saturday (July 12, 2025).

In the voice recording of the cockpit, one pilot was heard asking the other, ‘Why did you do the cutoff?’ The second pilot replied, ‘I did not turn off.’ The cutoff case is being considered important in the Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 accident on June 12, 2025. Shortly thereafter, the switch of both the engines of the aircraft going to London became cut off from Run.

What was told in the report?

787 Dreamliner and other commercial aircraft have more than enough strength to fly from the same engine and pilots are fully prepared for this phenomenon. The report said that when the aircraft is flying and the fuel control switch is taken from the cutoff.

The EAFR recording sent a Mayday alert soon after the closure was closed a few seconds. Air traffic control inquired about the call sign. He did not get any response, but then he saw the aircraft crashing outside the airport boundary.

What came about the pilot?

The plane filled with 54,200 liters of fuel started coming down fast and collided with the hostel of the medical college. Due to the fire on the plane, all the others except 1 out of 242 people were killed. This aircraft remained in the air for only 32 seconds.

Captain Sumit Sabharwal of this aircraft had an 8,200 -hour flight experience. He was accompanied by first officer Clive Kunder, who had a flying experience of 1,100 hours. The report states that both pilots were medically healthy and enough experienced.

It is being said that the company’s airline partners James Heli-Prat and Owen Hannah are ‘closely working’ with about 20 British families. At the same time, they are also working with the lawyers of London appointed by AI and its aircraft insurers related to interim payment.

PTI quoted Heli-Prat as saying, ‘AI 171 is quite sensitive for families who lost their loved ones in the accident and we are supporting them through various processes in Britain and America. Given the aircraft safety, our investigation team believes that RAT (Remote Access Trojan) was automatically deployed, but the system is indicated around the take off.

The truth will be revealed after the investigation report

Heli-Prat told that now the law firm is waiting for its investigation report, which is expected to come by the end of this month. Our team is fully prepared to provide justice to those families and now it depends on the evidence where the aircraft has missed the accident. After all, the reasons for why RAT were deployed is also being investigated. Heli-Prat indicated that the ‘path of justice and truth’ could be in the High Court of London or the US Federal Court of Virginia against Boeing.
