A tremendous trend has been seen in IPL 2026. Especially whenever young players have achieved any big achievement, they have celebrated that moment by taking out a slip from their pocket. Recently, Urvil Patel of Chennai Super Kings created history by scoring fifty in 13 balls. After that he took out a slip from his pocket on which he had written an emotional message for his father. Lucknow Super Giants bowler Akash Singh took out the slip from his pocket after taking the wicket of Sanju Samson. It was written on Akash’s slip, ‘Akki on fire. While playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025, Abhishek Sharma celebrated the century by taking out the slip from his pocket after scoring a century in 40 balls against Punjab Kings. After that the ‘Parchi Trend’ has gained tremendous momentum.

Can the player be punished?

In IPL, there is no special rule regarding keeping slips in the pocket. If a player tries to tamper with the ball in any way by using a piece of paper, it may be counted under Article 2.14 of the Code of Conduct. If a case of ball tampering comes to light then BCCI’s anti-corruption unit is activated.

Earlier, allegations of tampering with the ball through sandpaper have come to light. Sandpaper, however, is rougher than a normal piece of paper.

It was only in IPL 2025 when Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and fast bowler Khalil Ahmed were surrounded by allegations of ball tampering. But after investigation the authorities did not take any action against him.
