In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the Indian National Congress on Tuesday (17 February 2026) surrounded the Uttar Pradesh Assembly and demonstrated on many issues. Reaction has come from former Uttar Pradesh CM and Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on the demonstration conducted by the Congress Party and the assembly siege.

On the Congress’s protest, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said, “This is the government which cannot accept opposition, it only keeps chanting its tune.” Akhilesh Yadav said that if he had faith in Lord Shri Ram ji and religion, then in this democracy, he would not have made our victorious Ram ji sit on the back seat in the Lok Sabha, but would have made him sit on the seat next to the PM.

‘Protest should be done with full preparation’

Akhilesh Yadav said, “If you have to protest then do it with full preparation, if one police baton comes then 50 of you should be ready, you should protest with full preparation.” On meeting the Election Commission, Akhilesh Yadav said, “We have sought time from the Election Commission, we will go to meet them as soon as we get time. They are not filling the names and forms of backward Dalit Muslims, we have to meet them in this regard.”

Targeted at CM

On Chief Minister Yogi, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Chief Minister Bisht ji does not know anything. His colleagues have never sung Vande Mataram, no leader of the Sangh has ever said Vande Mataram, Maa Tujhe Salaam. Chief Minister Bisht Saheb does not know anything, he is engaged in dishonesty. He is making our Ram ji sit on the last bench, in the coming elections he will be thrown out of the assembly itself.”

On water spilling from a water tank in Mahoba, UP, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said, “That is the tank of their corruption, at many places they have worked only through corruption.”

While talking to the media, Akhilesh Yadav took a dig at the Chief Minister’s statement and said, “The Chief Minister who was against Urdu is using Urdu, use another word for Qayamat ke Alava.” Akhilesh Yadav said, “When the Chief Minister is surrounded, BJP becomes weak, the fear of losing his chair increases, then he becomes communal. The more his chair is in danger, the more communal he becomes.”

‘When it rains in Gorakhpur, there is no metro, only boats.’

Akhilesh Yadav intensified his attack on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and said that if it rains today, boats run in Gorakhpur, not metro. He said, “When the Chief Minister went to Jhansi for the first time, the Chief Minister said that a metro will be built in Jhansi, Jhansi will be directly connected to Delhi through expressway and a metro will be built in Gorakhpur. It has been ten years today.” He has accused corruption in the name of smart city.

‘There is no place for those who shoot at Ram devotees’

In fact, CM Yogi Adityanath said, “Some opportunistic people remember Lord Ram in times of trouble and later forget him. Therefore, Lord Ram has also forgotten him. They will not succeed now. That day of doomsday will not come – CM Yogi

Along with this, CM Yogi said, “I would like to say to those who are dreaming of the Babri structure, that day is never going to come until the doomsday. Don’t live for the doomsday, if you live according to the rules in India, you will be benefited. Otherwise, if someone breaks the rules, the path will take him straight to hell. If someone is dreaming of going to heaven by breaking the law, his dream will never be fulfilled.”
