How can RJD win a Rajya Sabha seat?

RJD has made AD Singh its candidate for Rajya Sabha elections. Grand alliance has a total of 35 MLAs including 25 from RJD. To win one seat in Rajya Sabha elections, 41 MLAs are needed. Elections are to be held for five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar. Each candidate needs 41 votes to win. Given the strength of 202 MLAs in the 243-member Assembly, while it will be easy for the NDA to win four seats, it will need the support of only three additional MLAs for the fifth seat.

Iman also reminded that during the assembly elections, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had talked about supporting RJD, but RJD did not consider his conditions and demands. According to Iman, today the same parties are spreading unnecessary speculations about AIMIM MLAs.

Asaduddin Owaisi on Bihar Voters List: Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision that has been instructed to recognize 11 documents as well as three more documents – Aadhaar card, voter ID (EPIC) and ration card along with 11 documents already existing for voter verification in Bihar elections. Owaisi has described it as ‘an important step’ towards strengthening the voter verification process.

The Supreme Court has clarified in its order that these three documents can be used not only for records, but as proof of birth date and place of birth. Owaisi said that this decision follows the legal vision of the 1995 Babu Lal Hussain case and should be fully implemented.

The sharing of Muslim votes can be a headache for the grand alliance
About 17 percent of the 243 assembly seats in Bihar are Muslims. Most of these have traditionally been voting for RJD. But with the active AIMIM, Muslim votes can be divided in many areas including Seemanchal. This can cause loss to the Grand Alliance and indirectly to the NDA.

Election equation changing status
Creating a third front of AIMIM can also completely change the electoral equation of Bihar, not just the creation of a new political axis. If Muslim votes are disintegrated, then this direct loss will be done to RJD and Congress, which are considered the basis of the Grand Alliance.
