While the temperature in Maharashtra’s Akola has broken all records, the border districts of Rajasthan, Barmer and Jaisalmer are burning like a furnace and the mercury has crossed 46 degrees Celsius.

According to the latest data released by the Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday, April 26, the maximum temperature in most parts of the country remains between 40 to 46 degrees. At present, the highest heat in the entire country has been recorded in Akola located in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Here such fire rained from the sky that the maximum temperature reached a dangerous level of 46.9 degrees Celsius.

The most horrifying scene is from the desert state of Rajasthan. Here the heat and severe heat wave have completely scorched the life of the common people. The scorching sand and hot winds have pushed the border districts into the ‘dark red zone’ of the heat map.

Barmer: Summer is at its peak here. The maximum temperature of Barmer has been recorded at 46.4 degrees Celsius. The sun’s rays start piercing from 9 o’clock in the morning and by noon the intense heat waves force people to remain confined to their homes.

Jaisalmer: The condition of Jaisalmer, famous as ‘Golden City’, is also bad. The mercury here has reached 46.0 degrees Celsius. The fierce hot winds rising from the burning sand have created undeclared curfew-like situations from cities to villages.

In Barmer and Jaisalmer, the minimum day as well as night temperature remains high (about 29.5°C – 30.2°C), due to which people are not getting much respite from the humidity and scorching heat even at night.

In view of the heat map turning red and this deadly heat, the health department and the local administration have issued an alert. A strict appeal has been made to the general public not to go out in the sun in the afternoon without any urgent work. To avoid heat stroke, keep your head covered, wear light colored cotton clothes and do not allow dehydration in your body.
