Akshay Kumar’s 2012 action comedy film ‘Rowdy Rathore’ was very much liked. The producer of this film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is now planning the sequel of his hit film. However, Akshay Kumar will not return as Vikrant Singh Rathore in ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’, rather a Pan India star can replace him.

In fact, according to a report in India Today, Bhansali Studio has decided to take a big step on Rowdy Rathore and turn it into a franchise. According to the report, a source claimed, “Bhansali Productions is actively working on several major projects including ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’. And it is one of the biggest franchises of the studio with a strong fan base at the pan India level.”

According to the report, the star cast has not been selected yet and the film is still in its initial stages. However, it is also reported that in Rowdy Rathore 2, a ‘big pan-Indian star’ is likely to play the lead role in the cop avatar. According to the report, the source further added, “Given the huge popularity of the film, the makers are considering casting a big pan India star.”

According to the report, Rowdy Rathore originally featured Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. Directed by Prabhu Deva, the film was the official Hindi remake of the 2006 Telugu film Vikramarkudu. It was well received by the audience and earned a little more than Rs 200 crore at the box office.
