Akshay Tritiya: Akshaya Tritiya will be celebrated on 19 April this year. Every year, as this festival approaches, the hustle and bustle in the markets increases. However, due to the tremendous rise in gold prices in the last one year, it may prove to be a bit difficult for people to buy gold this time because not everyone’s budget is that big. Last year i.e. after Akshaya Tritiya of 2025, gold prices in the Indian spot market have increased by 60 percent. This is the ninth consecutive year when gold has given excellent returns to investors.

How far below the high level is gold now?

In January this year, gold prices had reached its record high of more than Rs 180,000. However, after this the prices also came down a bit. Currently, the price of gold is around Rs 150,000 per 10 grams, which is 16 percent below the recent high or Rs 30,000 less. This has happened due to profit booking. As soon as prices rose, investors withdrew their profits. Apart from this, inflation concerns amid rising crude oil prices have also played a role in this.

Akshaya Tritiya is the second biggest festival for buying gold in India after Dhanteras. Buying gold on this day is considered auspicious. This time on Akshaya Tritiya, the price of gold is expected to be between Rs 1.45 lakh to Rs 1.59 lakh per 10 grams. Whereas last year the price was around Rs 96,000. This means that people who bought gold on the occasion of this festival last year are now making 60 percent profit.

Will the investment be right now?

Experts believe that despite the huge rise in gold prices in the last few years, its rise will still continue. Even if the pace slows down a bit. However, he believes that in an environment of central bank buying and persistent geopolitical tensions, gold is a beneficial asset to keep in one’s portfolio.

Investors are also advised to keep only 10-15 percent of their investment in gold. If you do not want to buy gold for wearing, then you can also invest in digital gold instead of jewellery. There is no worry about making charges and purity.

Experts also say that if you are buying gold for a long term of 5-10 years, then it is a good investment option. However, betting on it with the thought of earning profit in 2-3 months can be risky because gold prices have fallen by 16% in March this year.
