The cause of death of Prince Abdullah bin Fahd bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Al Saud, a 29-year-old member of the royal family of Saudi Arabia, in a luxury hotel in London has been revealed. A hearing in Britain’s coroner’s court revealed that a lethal mixture of alcohol, party drugs and prescription drugs caused his death. Since there was no evidence of any conspiracy or suicide in the case, the court considered it a ‘misadventure’ i.e. accidental death.

Dead body was found in a luxury hotel in London

During the hearing in Britain’s Inner West London Coroner’s Court, it was told that Prince Abdullah had booked a room for a week at the Marriott Hotel in Kensington, London on 19 November. The rent of this hotel was around 600 euros per night. In the CCTV footage, he was seen going outside the hotel to smoke a cigarette the evening before his death. After this he did not go out again.

Dead body found in bathroom, doctors could not save

On November 25, when the hotel staff arrived to clean the room, he saw Prince lying on the bathroom floor with his clothes on. After this the hotel management immediately informed the emergency services. Paramedics who reached the spot tried to save him, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Investigation reveals alcohol and many drugs

The post-mortem and toxicology report revealed that the Prince’s blood contained 222 mg of alcohol per 100 ml, which was almost three times more than the drink and drive limit set in England. Experts told the court that this amount of alcohol was enough to send a person into a coma.

The investigation also found traces of a party drug called Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), marijuana, Xanax and other drugs to relieve anxiety. Medical experts concluded that a lethal combination of all these substances caused cardiac arrest and resulted in his death.

Had undergone treatment for drug addiction

The court was told that Prince Abdullah was already struggling with alcohol and prescription drug addiction. In August 2025, he was admitted to the Priory Clinic in Roehampton, London, where he underwent detox to get rid of his addiction to alcohol, benzodiazepines and pregabalin.

Psychiatrist Dr. Victoria Chamorro said that he cooperated well during the treatment. At the time of admission, he had symptoms of anxiety and stress, but the detox program was completed without any physical problems. Although he later missed follow-up appointments, doctors did not consider him a patient at risk of suicide.

Treatment was also done in another clinic

After being discharged from the Priory Clinic, the Prince also received treatment at the Rainford Hall Clinic in Merseyside. He left the clinic in October after recovering from an upper respiratory infection there.

Coroner said – not suicide, accidental death

Assistant Coroner Gene Harkin said the investigation found no evidence to prove Prince intentionally took his own life. The court was told that no suicide note was found, he had never talked about suicide and no evidence of the presence of any third person was found. Even in the CCTV footage, he was seen alone till the last moment.

Based on these facts, the court considered his death as ‘misadventure’ and recorded multi-drug ingestion as the medical cause. After the hearing, the Saudi royal family issued an official statement confirming the death of Prince Abdullah.
