There has been a new twist in the murder case of Akhlaq, who was killed in the famous 2015 mob lynching of Dadri in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. On Monday, Mohammad Akhlaq’s wife Ikraman filed a petition against the state government in Allahabad High Court. In which the government’s decision to withdraw the case has been challenged. The double bench of the court can hear this case on January 5, 2026.

Ikraman has made 21 people including the state government as defendants in his petition. Before this, she had also filed a petition in the trial court against the decision of the state government. All the accused in this case are out on bail. It has been demanded that withdrawing the case in a case like murder is wrong and against justice.

What was the whole matter?

Let us tell you here that on September 28, 2015, 52-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq was beaten to death by a mob in Bisahada village of Greater Noida on suspicion of keeping beef in the fridge of his house. His son Danish was also seriously injured in this incident. This incident created an uproar in the entire country. Also, a new debate had started regarding incidents like mob lynching.

The government had applied to withdraw the case

The stir in this case started when the UP government recently filed an application in the trial court under Section 321 CrPC to withdraw the case against all the 19 accused. The government claimed that this would restore social harmony. Whereas the victim’s family objected to this.

Made 21 defendants including the state government

Akhlaq’s wife Ikraman has made 21 people including the state government as defendants in her petition, which includes all the accused. The petition demands that the government order be cancelled. According to the victim’s family, withdrawing the case in a serious case like murder is a misuse of the law. There is no better example for the future. Apart from this, the family has also registered its objection in the trial court. 18 accused are out on bail in this case, including three minors.

The family, which had hoped for justice after 10 years, is now struggling to keep the case in court. Now what decision will the High Court take in this matter or will it be known only on January 5. But suddenly this famous issue has come into the headlines again.

Bhanvi Singh, wife of Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, leader of Jansatta Dal Loktantrik and MLA from Kunda in Uttar Pradesh, has got a big relief from the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court. The court has put an interim stay on the ongoing trial process against Bhanvi Singh on charges of defamation and insulting the dignity of a woman.

The court has also ordered to issue notice to Sadhvi Singh, sister of Raja Bhaiya and his wife Bhanvi Singh. The court has given three weeks time for the next hearing of the case. This order was given by the single bench of Justice Saurabh Lavania on the petition of Bhanvi Kumari Singh.

what is the whole matter

In fact, it was argued on behalf of petitioner Bhanvi Singh that her husband Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya has filed a divorce case in the family court. A written reply was filed on behalf of Bhanvi Singh on the said case.

‘FIR registered on the basis of channel’s news’

The petitioner’s lawyer has said that his (Bhanvi Singh) written reply was broadcast by a channel. On the basis of the same news, Bhanvi Singh’s sister Sadhvi Singh has lodged an FIR against Bhanvi and two other persons.

Case proceedings cannot be published – Court

The court has commented in this case that there is a clear provision in the Family Court Act and the Hindu Marriage Act that the proceedings of any Family Court case cannot be published or printed.

Possibility of mediation in dispute between two sisters- Court

However, the petitioner’s advocate has also argued that only a complaint could have been filed against the allegations made by the petitioner. On this, the court said in its order, “The dispute is between two sisters, so there may be a possibility of mediation.” With these comments, the court has stayed the ongoing case against Bhanvi Singh till the next hearing.

Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Friday (5 December) the anticipatory bail plea of folk singer Neha Singh Rathore was rejected. The singer is accused of making baseless, anti-religious and anti-national statements on social media against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in connection with the murder of 26 tourists by asking them about their religion in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

A single bench of Justice Brijraj Singh passed this order on Rathore’s anticipatory bail plea. The bench said that she is not cooperating in the investigation as per the orders of the previous bench, which had rejected her plea for quashing of the FIR. The bench also said that the Supreme Court had also not granted him relief on his plea to quash the FIR and had only allowed him release at an appropriate time.

‘Constitutional rights have been violated’

In this incident, an FIR was registered against Neha at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow on April 27, 2025, the investigation of which is ongoing. Opposing his arguments, government lawyer Dr. V.K. Singh argued that the petitioner not only made derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister, the Home Minister and the BJP but also violated his constitutional right to freedom of expression under Article 19 of the Constitution by making anti-national statements at a time when tensions with Pakistan were at their peak.

The government lawyer also told the bench that Neha was not cooperating in the investigation and despite the notice, she was not available for questioning.

The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has canceled the order regarding the mandatory condition of being a local resident of Lucknow for registration of e-rickshaw in the capital. The court said that such a condition is a clear violation of the fundamental rights of equality, freedom of occupation and life. This order was passed by the division bench of Justice Shekhar B Saraf and Justice Brijraj Singh after hearing four petitions including Ajit Yadav’s petition.

It was said in the petitions that on February 5, 2025, the Assistant Divisional Transport Officer, Lucknow passed an order and imposed two restrictions regarding the registration of e-rickshaws. Under the first of these restrictions, a person who already has registration of an e-rickshaw will not get the registration of a new rickshaw and under the second restriction, only a person who is permanently resident in Lucknow will get the registration of a new e-rickshaw.

In the petitions, the second condition related to permanent residence in Lucknow was challenged. Responding to the petitions, the state government said that e-rickshaw owners living on rent in Lucknow face difficulty in giving notices regarding expiry of fitness etc. If their address changes, it becomes difficult to trace them. The court was not satisfied with this answer and did not consider it a proper basis for depriving people living on rent from registration.

The bench said that there could be other ways to control the number of e-rickshaws like registering only a certain quantity in a year and confiscating e-rickshaws that do not have a valid fitness certificate, but denying registration on the basis of not having permanent residence in Lucknow is arbitrary.

Akhilesh Yadav will not repeat Bihar’s mistake, changed strategy regarding 2027, PDA watchmen will play!

Allahabad High Court Judge Sameer Jain has recused himself from hearing the case of SP leader Azam Khan. This is the case of orphanage eviction of 2016. Justice Sameer Jain has released the case from his court. The court also made it clear that the stay on the final decision of the trial court will remain effective till the next hearing.

In the petition, the trial court’s order dated May 30 has been challenged. In that order, the demand to recall the prosecution witnesses, especially Sunni Central Waqf Board Chairman Zafar Ahmed Farooqui and to bring on record the videography of the incident site, was rejected.

The petitioners say that this videography can prove their absence at the scene of the incident and this evidence is necessary for the right to a fair trial. This case is based on 12 FIRs registered in the Kotwali police station of Rampur in 2019, which include charges like robbery, criminal conspiracy and unauthorized entry into the house. All the cases were clubbed into a single case by Special Judge (MP/MLA) Rampur on August 8, 2024.

Allahabad High Court has banned any kind of business fair or event being organized in schools of UP. The court clearly said that now no commercial activity will be carried out in schools. Under no circumstances can the importance of a playground be reduced in relation to an educational institution.

The double bench of Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Arun Bhansali and Justice Kshitij Shailendra gave this order while disposing of the petition of Hamirpur petitioner Girja Shankar. This PIL was filed regarding the organization of a business fair in a college in Hamirpur.

Ban on commercial activity in educational institutions

Commenting on the commercial activities taking place in schools and colleges, the court said that educational institutions are meant only for providing education, the land and buildings of such institutions which also have playgrounds cannot be used under any name or for any commercial activity.

Court gave instructions to the state government

While hearing the PIL, the court ordered that the infrastructure of educational institutions should be used only for educational activities and related activities. The court directed the UP government to issue a clear and unambiguous circular in this regard.

In this circular, the district administration, police administration and educational institutions of all levels have been asked to take action as per the instructions given by the court within one month from the date of receipt of the copy of this order.

The court has said in strong words that there is no law which allows commercial use of the property of an educational institution imparting primary, secondary or higher education. The infrastructural facilities of educational institutions should be used for sports, cultural activities, debate competitions etc. and not for other purposes.

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Friday expressed displeasure that despite prior orders, the state government did not give a clear answer as to what it would do if a political party organizes a caste-based rally.

The High Court has fixed October 30 for the next hearing of the case. The division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Rajiv Bharti expressed displeasure during the hearing of the PIL of local advocate Motilal Yadav.

High Court sought response from the state government

The High Court had banned caste-based rallies from July 11, 2013. The division bench ordered the state government to file an affidavit within three days in compliance with its order dated August 7, 2024, otherwise the concerned principal secretary will have to appear in the court on the next hearing.

During the hearing, the counsel for the state government told the court that the state government has issued a government order dated September 21, 2025, banning caste-based rallies for political purposes in the state. On this, the court asked the state government’s counsel as to what was the problem in filing the affidavit in this regard.

Ban on caste based rallies

In the last hearing, the Election Commission had also said that it has completely banned caste-based rallies under the model code of conduct. The court had sought clarification from the state government about its authority to take action. But, no clear answer was given, which angered the bench.

The court had banned caste-based rallies by political parties in the state on July 11, 2013. Passing an interim order, the court had said that the caste system divides the society and creates discrimination. The court had said that allowing caste-based rallies is a violation of the spirit of the Constitution, fundamental rights and responsibilities.
