Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)’s displeasure for India Alliance before Bihar Assembly elections has given new political signals. Jharkhand government minister and Giridih MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu made it clear in the press conference that JMM will not participate in the Bihar assembly elections.

Also, it will not campaign in favor of any candidate of the Grand Alliance. Now it remains to be seen whether the alliance of India Alliance will break in Jharkhand also.

JMM decided not to contest elections in Bihar

Sudivya Kumar said that this decision of the party was taken due to Congress and RJD not following the coalition dharma. He said that JMM was kept entangled in seat distribution and other arrangements in Bihar and at the last moment some such circumstances arose due to which JMM decided not to contest elections in Bihar. The minister alleged that just as Congress and RJD were given support and seats in Jharkhand while playing the role of elder brothers, similarly injustice was done to JMM in Bihar.

Congress did not take any clear stand in favor of JMM

Sudivya Kumar further said that Congress did not take any clear stand in favor of JMM nor did it take any initiative for mediation. For this reason, JMM took the step of not contesting elections in Bihar. He clarified that both RJD and Congress are responsible in this matter.

On October 18, JMM led by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had also announced to contest elections independently in Bihar. The party said that it will not be a part of any alliance and will field its candidates only from six assembly seats Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria, Manihari, Jamui and Peerpainti. JMM General Secretary Supremo Bhattacharya said that the party’s support base is continuously increasing in these border seats and their main focus will be to raise the issues of tribals and deprived classes prominently.

BJP took a dig at this decision of JMM

BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shah Dev said that JMM has set a new example of shamelessness by changing its stand in the last one week. First he ran away from Bengal, now he ran away from Bihar also. The whole incident reminds of ‘Bhaag JMM Bhaag’.

Analysts believe that JMM’s displeasure and dissatisfaction over seat distribution in Bihar can become a challenge for India Alliance in Jharkhand. The impact of this step will be seen not only in Bihar elections but also on the political situation of the alliance in Jharkhand. If there is no balance in the alliance then the possibility of India Alliance breaking in Jharkhand may also increase.

Bihar assembly elections are now near. This time a very close fight is being seen between NDA and India Bloc. Talking to a news channel about this, senior journalist Ajit Dwivedi said that right now the BJP-JDU alliance seems to be benefiting and there are many reasons for it. He said that governments are losing very little these days. If we look at it, in a way, a phase of pro-incumbency is going on, the reason for this is due to various schemes.

He said that due to this reason NDA has an advantage and India Block is still laxing all these things. He further said that Tejashwi Yadav is on one side, the Grand Alliance is on the other. At the same time, Nitish Kumar is transferring money to banks today. People are trusting him because the money is coming in today’s date. Tejashwi Yadav is promising jobs for every household.

How is pro-incumbency in Bihar?
Regarding pro-incumbency, he said that one factor is that he sent Rs 10,000 to the accounts of women. These have come to his account just before Diwali. All such schemes have always been game changers. Giving examples, he said that whether it is Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s Ladli Brahmin Yojana, Eknath Shinde’s Manjhi Ladki Behan Yojana, Mahtari Bandhan Yojana in Chhattisgarh or Maiya Samman Yojana of Jharkhand government last year. Such schemes have proven to be game changers.

Example given from Madhya Pradesh
He told that in 2018 we covered elections in Madhya Pradesh. At that time Rahul Gandhi was campaigning in the most aggressive manner. He was contesting elections at that time by giving the slogan of Chowkidar Chor Hai. At that time, Shivraj Singh Chouhan was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for 12 years and BJP was in government for 15 years. Even though people there criticized Shivraj Singh Chouhan, there was no anger that they wanted to oust him. Congress won there after 15 years, but even then Congress got only 114 seats out of 230 and even then BJP lost 109 seats. We are seeing exactly the same kind of environment in Bihar.

Senior journalist said that there is no such anger against Nitish Kumar that he has to be uprooted. This plan will be useful in removing the slight boredom that people have, seeing them for the last 20 years. If there was a lot of anger among the people against Nitish, there was a feeling of uprooting him, then these things would not have worked.

Kharge claimed, ‘The people of Bihar should ask Nitish Kumar that what happened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised a package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore for Bihar on August 18, 2015?’

‘Our leaders cannot be intimidated’
Regarding the charge sheet of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, Kharge said, ‘This has been done to target the Congress. Our leaders cannot be intimidated. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the country.

The Congress President also alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP are not in favor of the welfare of the weaker sections of the society. He claimed, ‘They are against the poor, women and weaker sections of society. They (RSS-BJP) cannot think about the betterment of society. They believe in dividing the society on the basis of caste and religion. He said that the Waqf law passed by Parliament is a conspiracy of BJP, RSS to create divisions among communities.
