Australia women’s cricket team captain Alyssa Healy has surprised with her decision. This veteran wicketkeeper has made it clear that she will not participate in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup. Alyssa Healy has announced her retirement from all formats of cricket. Healy will not be a part of the Women’s T20 World Cup. She will say goodbye to international cricket after the home series against India in February-March.

Alyssa Healy has made it clear that she will not take part in T20 International matches against India keeping in mind the team’s preparations for this year’s Women’s T20 World Cup. She will captain Australia in the ODI series and a day-night test to be held in Perth. This will be the last series of his career.

Alyssa Healy said, “Representing her country has always been the biggest honor for her. The upcoming series against India will be the last series of her career.” Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg described her as one of cricket’s all-time greats and praised her contribution to Australian women’s cricket.

Let us tell you that Alyssa Healy made her debut in international cricket against New Zealand in 2010 at the age of 19. She is counted among the most dangerous batsmen and best wicketkeepers of women’s cricket. She was a part of Australian teams that won eight ICC World Cups, including six T20 and two ODI World Cups. She was also a member of Australia’s gold medal winning team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

After the retirement of Meg Lanning, Healy was made the full-time captain of Australia in 2023. His biggest achievement as captain was the 16-0 multi-format Ashes whitewash against England. Under his captaincy, Australia also made it to the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup and 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup. He has the highest individual score in the World Cup final and a record 126 dismissals in International T20.

Healy has so far played 162 T20, 126 ODI and 11 Test matches for Australia. He has scored more than 3,000 runs in 11 seasons playing for Sydney Sixers in BBL. Healy has two BBL titles to his name. She has also been the captain of UP Warriors in the Women’s Premier League.
