West Indies cricket team head coach Darren Sammy has criticized his own team. He says that the bad condition of the West Indies team in Test cricket is like a cancer which has spread throughout the system. These days the West Indies team is on Indian tour, where it has to play 2 test matches. The first test was won by the Indian team by a huge margin of innings and 140 runs. Sammy also expressed disappointment over the fact that the West Indies team has not been able to win any Test series in India for 42 years.

Speaking to media agency Gist, Darren Sammy said, “We won the last Test series in India in the year 1983. At that time I was in my mother’s womb. I know that now questions will be raised on me and I also welcome criticism. All I want to say is that the real problem did not start 2 years ago. It had started much earlier, which is like a cancer, which has spread throughout the system.”

Darren Sammy also said that this is the month of spreading awareness about breast cancer. There could not have been a better time than this to explain the poor condition of West Indies cricket. He said, “It has spread to the roots of our system.” His statement shows as if coach Darren Sammy has accepted that his team cannot stand against India.

Coach Darren Sammy admitted that West Indies cricket has been struggling with financial problems for a long time. He said, “The difference between different teams, the top 3-4 teams in the world versus the bottom four teams. We have been facing financial crisis for a long time. That is why great Test cricketers like Brian Lara and Shivnarine Chanderpaul are organizing events to try to get sponsors.”

West Indies last won the Test series against India in 2002, but that victory of the Caribbean team came at home. His last Test series win on Indian soil came in the year 1983.
