Business tension between the US and China has been in the news since 2018. The root of this dispute is associated with trade balance, technical transfer and industrial policies between the two countries. In April, US President Donald Trump increased the tariff on Chinese goods by 145%, in response to which China imposed a 125% duty on US imports. This became a situation in which the economy and global supply chains of both countries came under pressure. The two sides agreed to temporarily reduce tariffs after negotiations in Geneva and meetings in London in June. However, this relief proved to be short -lived, as the deadline for putting high tariffs again in August was approaching.

According to the Reuters report, an official of the White House confirmed that President Trump has extended the tariff’s deadline for 90 days by signing an executive order. This decision was taken by Trump a few hours after postponing the questions of journalists, in which he was asked if he would carry forward the deadline of August 12. Trump appreciated China’s cooperation on the occasion and said, “We will see what happens.” This indicates that the conversation between Washington and Beijing is still going on and both sides are looking for a permanent solution.

Current tariff rates and economic impact
Currently, 30% tariffs are applicable on imported goods from China, including 10% Aadhaar rate and 20% phynell-related additional tariffs. These tariffs were imposed by the US in February and March. On the other hand, China has reduced its rate on US imports to 10%. Economic analysts believe that tariff expansion will not only affect the GDP of the two countries, but will also increase uncertainty in global markets. Investors will adopt a cautious stance, while the cost of companies dependent on import-export may increase.

Potential future and global reaction
If there is no concrete agreement in the coming 90 days, then the tariff rates can again go to a higher level, which can lead to a huge decline in global trade. America’s leading business partners and international institutions such as WTOs can try mediation to end the dispute. Experts believe that this deadline expansion is a strategic break, which will give the two countries a chance to resolve issues through dialogue, but if the agreement is not reached then it can start the “Trade War 2.0”.

Us-china trade war: The impact of the heavy tariff imposed by former US President Donald Trump is now clearly visible on China’s economy. Even though Beijing is showing that he does not mind this trade war, but the truth is that China has come under pressure of this trade war, and that too at a time when its economy is struggling with the lethargy, weak domestic demand and real estate crisis.

Decrease in production

Purchasing Manners’ Index (PMI), considered the measure of China’s industrial health, has fallen to 49 in April. That is, the decline in production. This figure was 50.5 in March. The score below 50 shows that the industries are shrinking. It is clear that American tariffs are shocking China’s manufacturing. Export has slowed down, unemployment is increasing and logistic sector is delayed.

China’s biggest concern

China’s copper reserves are becoming very low and if this speed is maintained then the stock can be completely over by June. The huge demand for copper from the US and the fear of potential tariffs has cut off copper supply to China from all over the world. Big trade companies like Mercuria have described it as “the biggest supply shock in history”. The situation is so bad that China has to seek exemption from the tax imposed on American copper.

China is silently making ‘whiteist’

Although the Chinese government is not ready to bow down openly, but something else is going on behind the curtain. According to the report of Reuters, China has prepared a ‘whiteist’, that is, the list of American products which will be exempted from tariffs. This includes important products like medicines, chips and aircraft engines. Companies are being contacted privately and told that their products can get exemption, provided they apply from the right channel.

Government is giving trust in trust

Senior officials of Beijing are talking about supporting companies and unemployed through easy loans, support policy and sectoral help. But the ground reality is that big manufacturers are getting the most affected, because exports are being affected due to heavy tax. Small industries, which are labor-interest, are still in a little relief.

Where is China’s economy going?

Economic experts believe that this year, China’s growth can be just 3.5 percent, which is much less than in the past years. Manufacturing is weak, the service sector is also on the slope and the trust of the market is also constantly falling.

The ongoing trade war between the US and China has now reached social media. But this time it is not about dance video or beauty hacks, but is going to sell luxury goods directly from factories. In fact, Chinese factories are now making direct access to American consumers by using Tiktok, a social media, especially popular social media platform in America, to respond to America’s tariffs.

Here companies are claiming that they are giving the same stuff which sells big brands in thousands. In these videos seen millions of times on Tiktok, people are seen selling Lululemon’s yoga pants for just $ 5-6, while their price in the market is up to $ 100. In some videos, bags of brands like Louis Vuitton and Birkin are being offered for just $ 50.

What is the truth of these claims?

In these viral videos, it is claimed that the goods come from the same factory where these big brands make their products, the only difference is that it would not have the tag of the brand. However, the brands have given their clarification regarding these claims. Louis Vuitton clearly said that no of his goods are made in China. Lululemon also said that only 3 percent of his manufacturing takes place in China and complete information about his supply chain is present on the website. Despite this, many users on Tiktok are getting attracted towards these cheap options.

China tiktok is so mssy rn because now that the chinese government legalize Counterfeit Products of All American Goods Becase of the tariffs their Nov Exposing A Lot of Big Brands and how their stuffy stoffis Manufactured and encourages you to buy them in house China for cheaper pic.twitter.com/glftzenf3y

-klair-o-spinach (Saint Era) (@Clairospinach) April 12, 2025

Experts believe that these stuff is not real but “dupa” i.e. fake or exactly looking products. Conrad Quilt-Harper, author of the book ‘Dark Luxury’, says that these videos are trying to blur the line between fake and real manufacturers and are also increasing its demand in Western countries through social media.

Rebate will end from May 2025

This trend has come to light at a time when the tax exemption on imported goods less than $ 800 in the US is going to end in May 2025. It is believed that before this, the more the goods are directly transported to the consumers, the more beneficial it will be. Some Tiktok users were also angry with America’s trade policy. One user wrote, “Americans need a revolution, not tariffs. Your government has sent your jobs to China and now your future is also selling.”

China is a stronghold of fake goods

All this is not as easy as it looks. Experts are warning that in the greed of these cheap deals, customers can buy fake goods. In the US, $ 1.8 billion fake products were seized in the US. China has been the world’s largest fake goods centers for a long time and such deals can not only give economic losses, but can also increase legal troubles.

This trend on Tiktok shows that now the war of global trade is not limited to government policies, but digital platforms have also become its important weapon. Recently, China has also banned the export of 7 rare economies, which are very important for the US defense, energy and technology sector. It is clear that China is now using its manufacturing and resources as a geopolitical weapon.

Us china trade war: Due to the US-China Trade War, recently, Xi Jinping had instructed all the aircraft companies of their country to stop delivery from American plane manufacturing company Boeing. After this decision of China, Boeing’s shares fell on their face. After this move of China, America’s economy suffered a major setback.

Till now it was believed that Xi Jinping is behind this move of dragon, but it is not so. A report by the South China Morning Post shows that China took this decision because it has a secret lady, which can make the dragon a bite of air. Let us tell you the full story of this secret lady.

Who is China’s Secret Lady?

The secret lady we are talking about is the name of Jhao Chunling. Jhao Chunaling is working on a plan to compete with America these days. According to a report by the South China Morning Post, Zhao Chunaling has graduated from a military-supported university in Sankasi province of China in 1991 and today he is the chief designer of China’s most ambitious aircraft C929. It is being claimed that this is an aircraft that is being built to challenge veterans like Boeing and Airbus.

American remained enemies from the beginning

According to the report, Jhao has studied with the Northwestern Polytechnical University of China, this is the same university that the US has put in its Sanctions List several times due to military links. After studying, Jhao worked for 18 years at a Defense Research Institute in Looyang. This institute creates sensors, displays and command technology for drones and aircraft.

On Aviation Mission since 2009

In 2009, China created its own aircraft manufacturing company Comac and the design of passenger jets like Jhao got new mission – C909 and C919. He not only designed it, but also prepared innovations like the intelligent system of the cockpit, digital display and pilot alert system which were worth competing with models like Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.

Could not stop Kovid

When the whole world stopped in Kovid, Jhao and his team were working day and night on the International Benchmarking of C919. As a result, C919 took its first commercial flight in May 2023.

Today, Jhao Chunling is the lead designer of Wide-Body aircraft named C929. This is a plane that can take 440 passengers up to 12,000 kilometers. Its first model can come by 2027. According to experts, if China has made this aircraft, it will be ready to compete with aircraft like Boeing 787.

Us-china trade war 2025: The US Trump administration announced the implementation of new port fees on Chinese ships, allowing trade tension between the US and China to reach the peak once again. As per the plan released by the US Trade Representative (USTR), this tax will be applicable to ships with Chinese Honorship, Operations or Building.

According to this scheme, the tax will be increased in a phased manner by April 14, 2025, and by April 2028. Initially this tax will be $ 50 per ton, which will increase to $ 140 per ton. Additionally, the container tax per container can increase from $ 120 to $ 250.

China’s Foreign Ministry criticized

According to SCMP, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Gian criticized the decision, saying that this step can be an obstruction in global supply chain, increase in costs and inflation on American consumers. He said that this policy would not be successful in reviving the shipbuilding industry in America. According to the USTR plan, every ship will be charged a maximum of five times a year. Tax will be charged at the port where the ship first enters the US to prevent small ports from bypassing.

China’s leading shipping company

Experts believe that this policy will have the most impact on China’s major shipping companies like COSCO and OOCL. According to Larsen, CEO of Shipping Consultancy Vespuchi Maritime, Ocean Alliance, including COSCO, OOCL, Evergreen and CMA CGM. They may require changes in their network. They estimate that some large Chinese container can exceed $ 10 million per port call tax for vessels. At the same time, this tax can be up to $ 4 million per port call on Chinese-made ships.

Rebate on US ship order

The US is also preparing to impose tax on vehicles and foreign manufactured vehicles transporters running with the help of LNG. Foreign automobile carriers will have to pay a tax of $ 150 per unit. This exemption will be applicable after the expiry period. However, USTR has also given relief in some cases. Such as small ships (less than 4,000 teu) and short distance trips (less than 2,000 knots) are exempted. Apart from this, if an operator orders the same sized American ship, then he can get a tax exemption on the Chinese ship.

USTR proposes 100 percent tariff

The USTR has also proposed a tariff of up to 100% on ship-to-crane and cargo handling equipment, which are imported from China. This is a step taken to make America’s maritime industry self -sufficient. Global concerns about the impact of this new policy are increasing. Clarkson Research has revised its global shipbuilding forecast for 2025 with a decline of 30%. Investors have now become cautious due to uncertainty in American trade policies.

WTO warns

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has warned that the global goods trade may fall by 0.2% in 2025 due to rising tariffs and policy uncertainty, which is much lower than the earlier estimated 2.7% increase. Exports in North America have been estimated by 12.6% and 9.6% decline in imports.

USTR released shocking report

The USTR has said in its report that the US has only 0.1% stake in global ship manufacturing, while China alone builds more ships than the rest of the world. According to 2024 data, China obtained 70% of new ship -making orders, while South Korea has 17% and Japan 5%.

Us-china trade war: America-China trade war is deepening every passing day. The big companies of both countries are suffering the brunt of Xi Jinping and Donald Trump’s enmity. Recently, a tough decision of China has once again put America’s plane manufacturer Boeing in trouble.

In fact, China has instructed its airlines not to take new aircraft from Boeing, causing a huge decline in the company’s shares on Tuesday. It is believed that this decision has been taken due to the US-China Trade War.

What is the whole matter?

According to a report, China has stopped its airlines from taking delivery of any new aircraft in Boeing. There was no official statement from China, but the report of Bloomberg has given air to this news.

Why does Boeing feel a shock?

Boeing is the largest exporting company in the US and employs around 150,000 American employees. But the company has been struggling for the last 6 years and the company has faced a loss of $ 51 billion since 2018. The special thing is that two-thirds aircraft of the company are sold to international customers, the largest market is China.

Boeing estimates that China will need about 8,830 new aircraft in the next 20 years, but after this decision, Boeing may suffer a lot from this market.

What is the only trade war?

Boeing’s problem is not just due to business stresses. The company had to ground its best -selling aircraft 737 Max after two deadly accidents in 2018 and 2019. Due to this, China did not allow these aircraft to return to service for a long time, while other countries brought them back to flight in 2020.

Why is delivery necessary for Boeing?

Boeing gets a large share in payment only after delivery of the aircraft. That is, till the delivery is not done, there will be no earning. According to the company, by the end of 2024 it has 55 aircraft in stocks, most of which were for the customers of China and India, but now it has become a burden on the stock company due to stopping delivery.

New battle of trade war

After US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs up to 145 per cent on Chinese products, China also retaliated and taxed US products up to 125 per cent. Their sales in China have almost become impossible due to so much tax on Boeing’s expensive aircraft. According to a CNN report, in 2017 and 2018, Boeing took orders for 122 aircraft from China, while in the last 6 years it has received only 28 orders, that too most of the freight aircraft.

Apple has created record breaking iPhones in India in the last one year (between March 2024 to March 2025). According to Bloomberg’s report, Apple has produced iPhones worth $ 22 billion (about Rs 1.83 lakh crore) in India. This is 60 percent more than last year. This means that one of every five sold worldwide iPhone is now made in India. Until a few years ago, this figure was almost zero.

Where are the factories of iPhone?

The iPhone is mainly being built in the factories of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. These factories are running foxconn, tata electronics and pegatron. The export of iPhone from India has also increased rapidly. According to IT minister Ashwini Vaishnav, India exported $ 17.4 billion iphones last year.

Why did Apple come out of China towards India?

Apple has taken this step to reduce dependence on China. Business tension between Kovid Lockdown, China-America and American tariff forced Apple to change their strategy.

When the US imposed heavy tariffs on electronic goods coming from China (up to 145 per cent on iPhone), Apple started sending US iPhones directly from India.

India is now a manufacturing hub

Apple is now assembling all its models, even premium titanium pro models in India. According to Bloomberg’s report, Apple has sold $ 8 billion in India in 2024, while its market share is only 8 percent. That is, even though Apple’s sales share may be low, the demand for iPhone in India is continuously increasing.

The effect of long thinking of CEO Tim Cook

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook often says, “In the long arc of time…”, that is, keep a long distance thinking. When Apple’s shares fell drastically due to tariffs, they acted peacefully and immediately started shipping iPhones from India. This strategy of Cook is now proving beneficial for the company.

Foxconn’s big bet

According to the Times of India report, Apple’s supply company Foxconn is now preparing to set up a new plant on 300 acres of land near Noida in Uttar Pradesh. This plant can become Foxconn’s second largest factory after Bengaluru. This area is near a semiconductor unit and jewelry airport, which further increases its importance. Foxconn is planning to work on not only iPhone, but also electric vehicles, digital health and energy technology in India.

Why is India perfect for Apple?

Plain of skilled laborers and government in India (PLI Scheme)

Huge domestic market

No political uncertainty like China

Constant increasing demand for iPhone

‘Made in India’ iPhone is now reality

Apple’s manufacturing is now becoming focused on India. Cities like Noida and Chennai are becoming increasingly technical hubs. Companies like Foxconn and Tata are rapidly increasing their investment. The government is also encouraging foreign companies to produce in India through $ 2.7 billion incentive schemes.

For Apple, India has now become a strategic manufacturing center, not just an option. Tim Cook’s long thinking and India’s fast growing strength has proved that the future iPhone will now be made in India.

The US government may have given some electronic products exempted from tariffs i.e. import duty, but this relief is not going to last long. US Commerce Secretary Howard Lonik has clearly stated that this discount is just temporary and soon a special “semiconductor tariff” will be imposed on these products.

What did Commerce Secretary say?

Talking on the ABC channel’s show ‘This Week’ on Sunday, America’s Commerce Secretary Lonik said, “Many electronic items like smartphones, computers, solar cells, flat-panel TVs have been excluded from the tariffs right now, but all these products will be under semector tax in the next 1-2 months.” He said that America now wants to build these essential things like chips, flat panels and semiconductors in its country itself. Lonik insisted that we cannot be completely dependent on South East Asia.

It is a matter of national security

Lonik also made it clear that this is not an issue that can be resolved by negotiating with other countries. He said that these products now come under ‘National Security’. Meaning, it should now be made in America. They cannot be exempted from tariffs forever.

What is the thinking of Trump administration?

President Donald Trump and his team want factories to be made again in America, especially the goods related to medicines and technology. For this, companies are being forced to bring back the manufacturing by imposing tax on imports.

Which products are now exempted?

On Friday night, the US Customs Agency issued a notice stating that things like smartphones, computers, solar cells, TV displays, and storage devices are currently exempted from tariffs. But now it has become clear that this discount is temporary and tax may be applied again in the coming months.

Message to india

The tariff policy in the US has now directly connected to the National Security. For countries like India, it is an indication that in global trade, more ‘safe trade’ is coming more than ‘free trade’.

Ever since Donald Trump has implemented the reciperook tariff policy, many big economists have said that this step is not right for America. Now the talk of these economists has been further strengthened by a survey on American citizens. It has been told in this survey that American citizens have become pessimistic about the US economy. Let us tell you what things came out in this survey.

What were the revelations in the survey?

According to a report published on the website of American news channel CNN, the latest survey of the University of Michigan has revealed that American citizens have become very pessimistic about the economy these days. This month, Consumer Confidence Index has recorded a decline of 11 per cent, which is the second lowest level since 1952. Surprisingly, even during the 2008 financial crisis, people’s morale did not fall so much.

Tariff war became the main reason

President Donald Trump’s tariff policy remains the main cause of this pessimism. The ongoing tariff war with China has created a possibility of increasing inflation. Although the tariffs imposed on other countries have been stopped for 90 days, the concerns of common Americans have not come down. People of every age group, income group and political ideology involved in the survey have expressed concern about the economic future.

Crisis on consumer spending

70 percent of the US economy depends on consumer expenses. Experts are worried that if people reduce spending then the risk of recession may increase further. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell says that Americans have been spending till now despite inflation, but if employment opportunities start decreasing then the situation can worsen.

Experts are also giving warnings

Blackrock CEO Larry Fink while speaking to CNN warned that the uncertainty created by Trump’s tariff policy could create a 2008 financial crisis. The same, JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon has also described tariffs and trade war as a big threat to the economy. In the last few years, the expenses of rich Americans have supported the economy, but now their purchasing capacity can also be affected due to the decline in the stock market.

Increasing concerns about inflation

The biggest concern for the Federal Reserve is that American citizens have started feeling that inflation will remain for a long time. According to the survey, the inflation rate is expected to be 6.7 percent in the next one year, which is much higher than the 5 per cent of the March figure. If this perception becomes, then it will be even more difficult for the Fed to control inflation.

India can also be affected

The effect of recession in the US economy can be seen globally. Emerging economies like India may face a decline in export and decrease in foreign investment. However, some experts believe that India may be able to face this crisis on the strength of its strong domestic market.

Us-china trade war: Donald Trump’s new tariff policy has shaken the fast fashion industry. The US is now ending the tax-free exemption on parcels less than $ 800 from China, which will cause huge losses to Chinese e-commerce platforms like Sheen, Temu and Alixpress. From May 2, these parcels will be charged 120 percent, due to which prices of cheap clothes and household goods are going to increase.

What is the new rule?

According to CNN report, till now there was no import tax on parcels worth $ 800 or less in the US. This is called “de minimis exemption”. Due to this, brands like Shein, Temu, Aliexpress continued to sell clothes and other products at very cheap prices in America. But now this discount has been abolished from May 2.

The Trump administration has announced that 120 percent import duty will be imposed on the parcel coming from China. From June 1, this fee can increase further to $ 200 per parcel. Also, a total of 145 percent tariffs will be implemented on all products coming from China.

Secondhand market benefits?

Online Secondhand Store Threadup hopes that people will turn to old clothes due to fast fashion. The company says that he had demanded the abolition of de minimis exemption for years, as it used to give fashion advantage to fashion. According to the survey of threadup, 60 percent of the Americans say that if the clothes are expensive, they will turn to the secondhand market.

But will people change the habit of tariff?

Fast fashion brands like H&M and Uniclo have shifted their production to countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh, where tariffs have been stopped for 90 days.

What will happen next?

In the next few months, it will be clear whether the tariff will really change the shopping habits of American consumers. At the moment, the magic of fast fashion is still intact, but the secondhand market can get a big benefit from it.
