Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Friday (August 22, 2025), Vice Presidential candidate of Congress -led coalition, Justice B.K. Accused Sudarshan Reddy of ‘support’ Naxalism and said that if he had not pronounced the decision on Salwa Judum, Maoism in the country would have ended before 2020.

Inaugurating the Manorama News Conclave organized by the Malayala Manorama Group, Shah said that the party’s possibility of victory in Kerala has decreased due to the Congress being elected a candidate for the post of Vice President.

‘Justice Reddy inspired by ideology deciding on Salwa Judum’

Shah, citing the 2011 Supreme Court verdict on Salwa Judum during the question -session under the Conclave, said, ‘Sudarshan Reddy is the same person who helped Naxalism. He ruled on Salwa Judum. If the decision on Salwa Judum had not been pronounced, the Naxalite terrorism would have ended by 2020. He is the same person who was inspired by the ideology that gave a decision on Salwa Judum.

In December 2011, Justice Reddy of the Supreme Court ruled that using tribal youth as special police officers in the fight against Maoist rebels, whether they are called ‘Koya Commandos’, called Salwa Judum or called by any other name, is illegal and unconstitutional. He had also ordered that weapons should be taken immediately from them.

Congress’s decision under pressure from leftist parties

Shah said that Kerala has suffered the brunt of Naxalism. The people of Kerala will definitely see that the Congress party is fielding a candidate who supported Naxalism and used a holy platform like Supreme Court. The ruling NDA has given the Governor of Maharashtra C.P. Radhakrishnan has been elected as the Vice -Presidential candidate, who is a senior BJP leader from Tamil Nadu with the background of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Asked about the bill being proposed to remove the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and Ministers in the Lok Sabha for 30 days after arrest in serious criminal charges, Shah said, “There is no need to say anything more on this matter.”

Tightening on former Delhi CM Kejriwal

The Home Minister said that I have asked the people of the country in Parliament, do they want the Prime Minister to run the government from jail? What is this debate? This is a question of morality. Now they are asking why it was not included in the constitution first. When the draft of the Constitution was prepared, it was not estimated that those who went to jail would continue in elected positions.

The Home Minister referred to the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal on corruption charges and refuses to resign after going to jail on allegations of corruption while being the Chief Minister of Delhi. Shah said, ‘There was an incident where a Chief Minister was running the government from jail, should the constitution be amended or not? At that time there was a BJP government, but we did not face such a situation.

Target on Rahul Gandhi and Congress

He also indicated that if Kejriwal had resigned after his arrest, this new bill would not have been introduced. He also targeted Rahul Gandhi and claimed that the Congress leader had tore an ordinance in 2013 by the Manmohan Singh -led UPA government, which was to provide relief to MPs and MLAs who were disqualified or convicted for any crime.

Shah said, ‘At that time, this ordinance was brought from Manmohan Singh to help Lalu Prasad. Rahul Gandhi had tore a copy of the ordinance approved by the cabinet in the name of morality. The same Rahul Gandhi is now seen hugging Lalu ji in Gandhi Maidan.

Amit Shah said about Bihar SIR dispute

Regarding the allegations of ‘vote theft’, the Home Minister said that after Rahul joined the Congress leadership, he looks at constitutional matters with suspicion. In the context of the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, Shah accused the Congress of creating an unnecessary controversy over this process.

He claimed that the Congress had an opportunity to raise objections at the constituency, district and state levels, but it has not filed any complaint on SIR till now. Regarding the implementation of SIR in other states, he said that this Election Commission has to decide.

Names of 22 lakh people in voter list even after death

He said, ‘The Election Commission has decided to get SIR across the country. There were names of 22 lakh people who have died in Bihar’s voter list. If there is a possibility of fake votes, should their names be removed or not? It is a matter of general knowledge.

Amit shah on waqf properties: The Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (April 02, 2025). During the discussion on this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while speaking, counted the properties seized by the Waqf Board across the country, and attacked the Congress and said that the Congress gave many properties to Waqf before the 2014 elections.

The Home Minister said, ‘Elections were to be held in 2014, earlier in 2013, the Waqf law was made extreme. Due to this, the Congress government did 123 VVIP property of Delhi Lutyens to give Waqf. At that time the election was at the mouth. The Delhi Waqf Board announced the name of Waqf of Northern Railway.

The Home Minister said that in Himachal Pradesh, he called this property as the property of the Waqf Board and made a mosque on it. In Tamil Nadu, 212 villages with an area of ​​250 hectares were owned by Waqf. Apart from this, four hundred acres of land in hundreds of years old temple in Tamil Nadu was declared the property of Waqf. A committee report in Karnataka has found that 29 thousand acres of land has been rented for Waqf business. Along with this, between 2001 and 2012, assets worth two lakh crore were given to private institutions on 100 years of lease. In Bengaluru, the High Court had to stop seizing 602 acres of land by falling in the middle.

Amit Shah said that by claiming 1500 acres of land in Honwar village of Vijaypur, Karnataka, it was also captured by the Waqf Board and gave the Five Star Hotel on the land of 500 crores to the Five Star Hotel with a price of 12 thousand rupees every month.

‘Law brought to protect the money of poor Muslims’

He said that some people are saying today that it should not be made and it should not be taken care of, this money is of the poor Muslims of the country, this money is not for the theft of Dhannaseths. The Home Minister said that to stop this situation, the government has brought a law for the Waqf Board, and we are its contractors. He also clarified that we are sitting here in Parliament and the purpose of bringing this law is that the money of poor Muslims of the country can be protected.

‘A lot of lands of Christian community also occupied’

Amit Shah said that some people speak thunderstorms in Parliament for such things, some speak non-understanding and some intentionally speak. He said that these people feel that they will win the election. In another temple, the Waqf Board claimed assets worth Rs 600 crore based on years -old claims. Along with this, the Waqf Board has also claimed on a lot of lands of Christian community. Many dignitaries of Christians are supporting the Waqf Bill. Some people think that by supporting this bill, they will be confirmed their vote bank by getting sympathy for Muslim brothers and sisters.
