During the monsoon session, a debate on Parliament today (Monday, 29 July) will begin a debate on the first -range terrorist attack and Operation Sindoor. Both the government and the opposition are preparing to take off their top leaders, while many political signs and conflicts have already become a topic of discussion before the debate. Former Home Minister and Congress leader P. Chidambaram has raised serious questions on the functioning of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in an interview to ‘The Quint’.

He said, “They (NIA) are not ready to explain what they have done in these weeks. Have they identified the terrorists? Or where they came from where they came from? Do they know, they are terrorists of the country. Why are you assuming that they came from Pakistan? There is no evidence of this.”

Shashi Tharoor’s silence again in discussion

According to Congress sources, Shashi Tharoor will probably not take part in today’s debate. He has not given any formal information about speaking to the CPP office of the party so far. Significantly, Tharoor recently supported the government’s stand on the India-Pakistan issue in the US and other countries, which was considered different from the official line of the Congress. This also revealed reports of sourness between him and the party.

Who will keep the side on behalf of the government?

Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar will be a prominent speaker from the government. If sources are to be believed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi can also interfere in this discussion.

Who will argue from the opposition?

If the president is allowed, then Rahul Gandhi can start a debate on behalf of the opposition. However, he has also started the debate several times before to his colleagues, as during the motion of no confidence in 2023.

What will be the issue of debate?

The focus of this 16 -hour long debate will be on the government’s response to the Pahalgam attack on 22 April and the transparency of operation vermilion. 26 citizens were killed in this attack. The opposition has accused the government of intelligence failure and has also asked why India is not getting international support, especially when former US President Donald Trump claimed arbitration between Indo-Pak, which has been rejected by the Government of India.

He said that the Home Minister directed the heads of all the Central Armed Police Forces to recall their personnel who are on leave. Shah also reviewed the internal security situation in the country and asked the top security officers to be vigilant and keep a close watch.

Home Minister’s instructions regarding Operation Sindoor
The Home Minister described ‘Operation Sindoor’ as India’s reply to the brutal killings of innocent people in Pahalgam. He also said that the Narendra Modi -led government is committed to give a befitting reply to any attack on India and its people and India is fully committed to eradicate terrorism. The Indian Army took this action in response to the terrorist attack on 22 April in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. 26 people were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

Union Cabinet meeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (May 7), a few hours after the operations were run by the Indian security forces to destroy terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir. Sources said that he will also preside over the Cabinet Committee (CSC) meeting on security matters, in which the current situation will be reviewed. Sources said that a proposal can also be passed on the campaign run by the defense forces in the meeting. The Indian armed forces carried out missile attacks on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied on Tuesday and Wednesday, including Jaish-e-Mohammed’s stronghold in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s whereabouts in Muridke.
