The horrific bus accident in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, in which 20 innocent people lost their lives, has exposed the shortcomings of the road safety system. Investigation has revealed that the bus driver Miriyala Lakshmaiah had obtained the license to drive heavy vehicles on the basis of fake educational certificate. Lakshmaiah, who had studied only till Class 5, obtained the license through a fake Class 10 certificate.

Under licensing rules, education up to class 8 is mandatory to drive a transport vehicle, but in many cases these rules are violated. This incident has made it clear that scams in road safety and use of fake documents can lead to a major tragedy.

Bus driver Miriyala Lakshmaiya arrested

The accident happened when Lakshmaiah, while driving his double-decker bus, hit the bike of a drunk biker, due to which the bus caught fire and 20 people lost their lives. Police have arrested the driver Miriyala Lakshmaiah and investigation into the matter is ongoing.

What is the entire incident of the bus accident?

Let us tell you that two people riding a bike met with an accident in Kurnool late night on Friday (October 24, 2025). Shiv Shankar died in this accident. The other driver, Erri Swami, parked the bike in the middle of the road and pulled Shiv Shankar’s body from the road, only then did he come to know that Shiv was dead.

Before he could remove the bike from the road, a speeding bus hit the bike and dragged it for some distance. During this time petrol started leaking from the bike and the bus along with the bike caught fire. 19 passengers were burnt alive in the accident, while others managed to escape through the emergency window.

Forensic investigation confirms that bike drivers were drunk

Kurnool Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Koya Praveen said that forensic investigation has confirmed that both the persons riding the motorcycle (Shiv Shankar and Ari Swamy) were drunk. Although the police already suspected that both were intoxicated, they did not confirm it as they were waiting for forensic evidence.

DIG told on Saturday (October 25, 2025) night that both of them had dinner at a dhaba and Swamy admitted to drinking alcohol. According to the police, Shiv Shankar had left from Lakshmipuram village at around 2 am in the night to drop Swami to Tuggali village.

Andhra Pradesh Police on Sunday (October 26, 2025) confirmed that the two men riding the motorcycle involved in the fire incident in a Bengaluru-bound bus were drunk. 19 bus passengers were killed in this accident.

On October 24, the motorcycle came under a sleeper bus in Chinna Tekuru village of Kurnool district. Even before the bus collided, the motorcycle met with another accident. There were a total of 44 passengers in the bus. After the collision, the motorcycle kept dragging under the bus for some distance, due to which its petrol tank burst and caught fire.

Police were waiting for forensic evidence

Kurnool Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Koya Praveen told PTI, ‘Forensic investigation has just confirmed that both the persons riding the motorcycle (Shiv Shankar and Ari Swami) were under the influence of alcohol.’ Although the police knew that both were intoxicated, they did not confirm it as they were waiting for forensic evidence.

A video of stopping at a petrol pump goes viral

Kurnool Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil said that on the way, both of them had stopped at a petrol pump near a car showroom at 2.24 am to fill petrol. A video of his stopping at a petrol pump had gone viral, in which Shankar is seen driving a two-wheeler carelessly.

Shortly after leaving the petrol pump, the two-wheeler slipped, due to which Shankar fell on the right side and collided with the divider and died on the spot. There has been widespread rainfall in the southern state in the last few days, causing slippery roads.

Swami fled to his native village after the incident

Patil said that Swamy pulled Shankar from the middle of the road and examined him and found that he had died on the spot. Patil said, ‘When he was thinking of removing the motorcycle from the road, the bus came at speed and crushed the two-wheeler and dragged it for some distance.’

Due to two consecutive accidents and a massive fire in the bus, Swami got scared and went to his native village Tuggali. Later the police brought Swamy and interrogated him to find out important details of this horrific accident.

Terrorist arrested in Andhra Pradesh: आंध्र प्रदेश पुलिस ने शनिवार (5 जुलाई, 2025) को तमिलनाडु में गिरफ्तार दो संदिग्ध आतंकवादियों में से एक के पकड़े जाने को बड़ी सफलता करार दिया है. आंध्र पुलिस ने कहा कि गिरफ्तार किया गया आतंकवादी बम बनाने में माहिर है.

आतंकी की गिरफ्तारी को लेकर कुरनूल रेंज के पुलिस उप महानिरीक्षक (DIG) कोया प्रवीण ने कहा कि अबूबकर सिद्दीकी उन लोगों को बम बनाना सिखाता था, जो उसकी कट्टरपंथी विचारधारा का समर्थन करते थे. इसके अलावा वह भगोड़े और कट्टरपंथी उपदेशक जाकिर नाइक से काफी ज्यादा प्रभावित है.

कुरनूल रेंज के डीआईजी ने दी जानकारी

DIG प्रवीण ने पीटीआई-भाषा से कहा, ‘‘यह शख्स (सिद्दीकी) जिसे हमने पकड़ा है, वह हमारी सोच से कहीं बड़ी मछली है. यह शख्य पूरे देश में यात्रा कर चुका है. वह अक्सर खाड़ी देशों की यात्रा भी करता था.” उन्होंने कहा कि हाल ही में तमिलनाडु के आतंकवाद निरोधक दस्ते (ATS) ने सिद्दीकी और उसके साथी मोहम्मद अली को अन्नामय्या जिले के रायचोटी से गिरफ्तार किया.

प्रवीण ने कहा, ‘‘सिद्दीकी भगोड़े जाकिर नाइक की विचारधारा से प्रभावित है. वह एक प्रशिक्षित विशेषज्ञ है, जिसे इम्प्रोवाइज्ड एक्सप्लोसिव डिवाइस (IED) और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उपकरण, टाइमर आधारित विस्फोटक उपकरण और अन्य अत्यंत घातक सामग्री तैयार करने में महारत हासिल है.

छापेमारी में पुलिस ने जब्त किए कई दस्तावेज और पेन ड्राइव

पुलिस ने शनिवार (5 जुलाई) को दोनों के ठिकानों पर फिर से तलाशी ली, लेकिन छापेमारी में कोई विस्फोटक नहीं मिला. हालांकि, पुलिस कुछ दस्तावेज और पेन ड्राइव जब्त करने में सफल रही. इससे पहले तीन जुलाई को पुलिस ने आरोपियों से बरामद पार्सल बम को निष्क्रिय किया था.

लाल कृष्ण आडवाणी की रथ यात्रा के दौरान बम लगाने में शामिल था सिद्दीकी

डीआईजी ने कहा, “रायचोटी में बसने के बाद सिद्दीकी (50) ने बेंगलुरु स्थित भाजपा के मल्लेश्वरम कार्यालय में बम धमाके को अंजाम दिया था. इसके अलावा, सिद्दीकी पर यह भी आरोप है कि वह 2011 में तमिलनाडु के मदुरै में भाजपा के वरिष्ठ नेता और पूर्व उप प्रधानमंत्री लाल कृष्ण आडवाणी की रथ यात्रा के दौरान पाइप बम लगाने के प्रयास में भी शामिल था. वहीं, सिद्दीकी की कई अन्य आतंकवादी गतिविधियों में भी संलिप्तता रही है.
