Gujarat malnutrition: In Gujarat, a very shocking report has come out about the condition of children and malnutrition. The latest report of NITI Aayog (NITI Aayog) states that about 40% of children under 5 years of age in Gujarat are underweight or dwarf. Seeing this report, many questions are arising, because Gujarat (Gujarat) comes in the most developed and industrial states of the country. Let’s know the reason for this state’s situation and what the report says …

Paper and truth in Gujarat are different

Anganwadi centers in India are considered to be the backbone for nutrition and education, especially in rural and backward areas. According to the census, 7.8 million children in Gujarat should have been enrolled in these centers, but the CAG report shows only 4.1 million children by 2022-23.

That is, about 48% of children are left away from nutrition. From 2015-16 to 2022-23, 3.7 million children in the state were left out of neutritional supplements. At the same time, only 18.8% of children aged 3-6 years got pre-school education.

Also read: These 3 diseases attack children in summer, be careful now!

Alert of NITI Aayog

According to SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Index 2023-24, 40% of children under 5 years of age are underweight or dwarf. More than 38% of the population is malnourished. The state’s SDG-2 score has slipped from 49 to 46 in 2018. These figures show that the state is lagging behind in the fight against hunger and malnutrition.

What is the truth

According to a recent study, only 2 out of 5 nutrients are present in the plate of tribal families in the state. Ration distribution is also uneven and incomplete. 62.5% of women aged 15 to 49 years are vulnerable to anemia.

What has the government done so far

The Gujarat government started two new schemes in the last few months. The first Chief Minister Nutritional Minority Scheme, in which a budget of ₹ 607 crore was given to the students to give breakfast rich in protein. The second nutrition mission, in which ₹ 75 crore was allotted for the care of mother and child. Despite this, the ratio of underdeveloped children has come down from 53.6% in 2022 to 40.8% in 2024. The number of low weight children has come down from 23.1% to 21%, which is a very slow improvement.

Anemia : Anemia means anemia. This is such a problem, which has a large number of women and children in the country. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 53% of children and women in India have anemia in 6 to 59 months. The age of women is 15–49 years.

According to the National Family Health Survey 2019-21, 57% of women with this age group in the country are struggling with anemia. In such a situation, let us know how dangerous anemia is and how can you avoid it…

What is anemia

Anemia is a condition when there is a deficiency of hemoglobin in the body. Hemoglobin is the protein present in our blood, which delivers oxygen to every part of the body. When it is reduced, there are problems like fatigue, weakness, dizziness and breathlessness.

Why women are more victims of anemia

1. Women have more bleeding in periods coming every month, due to which there is a deficiency of iron in the body.

2. In pregnancy and breast feeding, the woman’s body makes blood for herself as well as the child, which increases the need for iron.

3. Most women are unable to take healthy diet, due to which the body does not get the necessary nutrition and becomes a victim of anemia.

4. Dieting without thinking causes lack of necessary minerals, due to which anemia can occur.

What are the causes of anemia in children?

1. If children depend only on milk, then they do not get enough iron and this disease occurs.

2. Children get chocolate, snacks, but they get less food rich in iron and folic acid.

3. As the child grows, the body needs more iron, due to which this problem is caused by this problem.

What are the symptoms of anemia

Persistent fatigue

Plain yellowing

Dizziness

breathlessness

Go away

Nail

Hair loss

Easy ways to avoid anemia

1. Eat rich food with iron. Include spinach, beetroot, pomegranate, jaggery, pulses, dry fruits, soy, fish and eggs in the food.

2. Take Vitamin C. For this, eat fruits like lemon, orange, amla. This causes iron in the body quickly.

3. Take iron and folic acid pill on the advice of a doctor, especially in pregnancy.

4. If there is a problem of persistent tiredness or breathlessness, then do a doctor to get blood checked.
