International Nurses Day: International Nurses Day is celebrated every year on 12 May. This day is dedicated to those nurses who play an important role in saving people’s lives by taking care of patients day and night. Also, in today’s time, nursing is not just a service job but has also become a great career option. In such a situation, if you want to go into medical field after 10th or 12th, then nursing can be a good option for you. There are many job opportunities in this field not only in the country but also in foreign countries.

Which courses can be done after 10th and 12th?

To become a nurse, students can do different professional courses after 10th or 12th. In which students can do ANM i.e. Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery course after 10th. This is a course of about 2 years. Whereas students who want to do nursing after 12th can do courses like GNM and B.Sc Nursing. GNM course is of approximately 3 to 3.5 years, whereas B.Sc Nursing is a 4 years degree course. Also, to do B.Sc Nursing, Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects are required in most of the colleges. In many institutions, admission is also available through entrance exam.

These entrance exams have to be given for admission

Many government and private institutions conduct entrance exams to get admission in nursing courses. In which exams like AIIMS Nursing, JIPMER Nursing, NEET UG and CUET are considered important for admission in B.Sc Nursing. Besides, separate state level nursing entrance tests are also conducted in many states. Some private colleges also give admission on the basis of 12th marks. Apart from this, if we talk about GNM and ANM, then in many places direct admission is available in these courses, while some institutes also take written examination or interview. Therefore, students should decide in advance in which college or institute they want to take admission.

You get respect along with a job in nursing.

The field of nursing is such that there is no shortage of jobs. After completing this course, one can get jobs in government and private hospitals, clinics, health centers and medical colleges. Apart from this, there is a lot of demand for Indian nurses in foreign countries also. Along with taking care of patients, nurses also help doctors. This is the reason why this profession is viewed with great respect. In today’s time, the health sector is growing rapidly, hence the future in nursing profession is also considered quite secure.

What is the starting salary?

If we talk about salary, initially it depends on the course and institute. Those doing ANM course get an initial salary of around Rs 8 thousand to Rs 12 thousand. Whereas candidates doing GNM get a salary ranging from Rs 15 thousand to Rs 22 thousand. In many places, the starting salary of those doing B.Sc Nursing reaches Rs 25 thousand to Rs 35 thousand per month. In government hospitals, as experience increases, both salary and facilities become better. This is the reason why today a large number of youth are choosing nursing as a career. On the occasion of International Nurses Day, it would not be wrong to say that nursing is a profession in which service, respect and a good future are available.
