‘Jamtara’ fame actor Anshuman Pushkar recently revealed that he had to lose the role in some films due to the low number of social media followers. In a special conversation with news agency IANS, Pushkar said that he had lost a role due to being low followers on social media.

Speaking to IANS, he said, “I do not take all these things personally. If a producer or director gives priority to social media followers than talent, it is his right. It does not mean that the actor who has not been selected has less talent.”

Is talent necessary or followers?

After this, when asked if he was asked, in today’s time, more presence on social media is necessary than acting skills? So while answering this question, he said, “You cannot compare yourself with a star like Ranbir Kapoor, who already have a lot of fans. The casting of actors like us has left only the followers of Instagram.”

He further said, “But I have no complaint with this. It is just a part of the system.”

Apart from this, expressing his opinion on this general perception, he said that actors of small towns used to fit only in rural or rustic roles. But this thinking is changing now.

Sushant, Kangana and Pankaj Tripathi are inspiration

Giving the example of Kangana Ranaut, late Sushant Singh Rajput and Pankaj Tripathi, he said, “All these have come from small cities and they have played all kinds of roles in films.” It all depends on your ability and acceptance of the audience. Just once the audience adopt you, then it is possible to do anything.

There is no problem with the characters with gray shades

When the actor was asked whether his scope of doing other roles in films would be limited due to continuously playing gray shades roles? Responding to this question, he said, “The characters are characters, whether they are negative or positive. In the film ‘Aghahan’, I played the role of a very emotional and loving person.”

He added, “The industry has given me a good mixture of characters. Perhaps this is my voice, my feelings, or something else, but I have got both serious and fine characters. And I am ready for all kinds of work.”

‘Malik’ was released in theaters on July 11, which got mixed reviews.
