Jammu and Kashmir Police, while continuing its major action against terrorism in the region, has achieved a significant success in collaboration with the security forces. A terrorist hideout belonging to the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has been busted in Nanar Midura area of ​​Awantipora, and a terrorist associate who was providing assistance to the terrorists has also been arrested.

A police spokesperson said that immediate action was taken after receiving accurate intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in Nanar Midura. The police along with 42 RR and 180 BN CRPF launched a joint cordon and search operation (CASO). During the search operation, an active terrorist associate associated with JeM was identified and arrested. The arrested accused has been identified as Nazir Ahmed Ganai (resident of Ganai Mohalla Nanar, Awantipora).

Hidden terrorist hideout revealed

After his arrest, based on sustained interrogation and revelations made by Nazir Ahmed Ganai, a terrorist hideout hidden in his gardens was revealed. The security forces immediately destroyed the hideout. During the search of the hideout, security forces found incriminating material, which included 02 hand grenades, 01 detonator and explosive-like items, which were confiscated.

The spokesperson said that this hideout was destroyed on the spot following the prescribed procedure in the presence of the Executive Magistrate.

It has been clarified that the arrested terrorist associate was actively involved in activities like providing logistics support, delivery of arms and ammunition to JeM terrorists operating in Tral and Awantipora areas of Police District Awantipora.

Detailed investigation has been started

In this regard, a case under FIR number 257/2025 has been registered under relevant sections of the law at Police Station Awantipora, and further detailed investigation of the matter has been started. This action is being considered a major success for the security forces against terrorism in the area.

The anti-terrorism campaign in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir is now going on for the 7th day. 3 security forces personnel were injured in an encounter on Thursday. According to officials, this is the longest this year’s longest operation.

Nalin Prabhat, the head of Jammu and Kashmir Police, went and inspected the campaign site and took stock of the situation. At the same time, Army Northern Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma also reviewed the security system and anti -terrorism system in South Kashmir. He praised the jawans’ encouragement and way of working.

Soldier injured during encounter

According to officials, 3 soldiers have been injured in the encounter on Thursday morning, while so far a total of 7 soldiers have been injured in this campaign. Security forces are using all modern techniques including drones and helicopters to find terrorists.

Two terrorists killed

The encounter started when the security forces received special intelligence information about the presence of terrorists in the Akhl forest area of South Kashmir. After this, a search operation started by siege.

Firing started between the two sides on Friday, but firing was stopped at night. The encounter started again on Saturday in which two terrorists were killed. Their group and identity have not been ascertained yet.

Security forces have tightened the siege and additional jawans have been deployed so that the operation was successful. Along with Police Chief Nalin Prabhat, Deputy Inspector General of Police Kashmir VK Birdi and other senior officers are also present in Kulgam. He inquired about the ongoing campaign, strategies and deployment of soldiers on the spot.

Army Commander Northern Command Lt Gen Pratik Sharma appreciated the hard work and patience of the soldiers on Twitter (now X), saying that their commitment is strengthening peace and security in the area. He thanked all the soldiers that they are working with full force while playing their duty.

The longest campaign in Kashmir Valley

This campaign is the longest anti -terrorism campaign in Kashmir Valley so far this year. In Kulgam, security forces are constantly working hard to catch terrorists and make the area safe.
