Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Anupama Singh, who has strongly represented India on the issue of Kashmir and terrorism in the United Nations, is in the news these days; The video of the confidence and clarity with which he presented India’s side on the international stage while reminding Pakistan of its own record, is becoming increasingly viral on social media.

Anupama Singh is among those young officers who left a lucrative career in the corporate sector and chose the path of civil services. After studying engineering and finance, he worked as a consultant in the multinational company KPMG. Despite better salary and stable career, his aim was to serve the country. With this objective in mind, she started preparing for UPSC exam and after achieving success, she joined the Indian Foreign Service.

Academically his record has also been very impressive. He did B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT). After this, he completed MBA in Finance from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi University. He also did the CFA programme, where he gained expertise in subjects like corporate finance, valuation and portfolio management.

Anupama Singh, an officer of the year 2014 batch, received training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. For more than nine years, she has been performing various diplomatic responsibilities in the Indian Foreign Service. He is considered to have special interest in foreign policy, economy, science and technology, art, culture and literature.

Recently, during his address at the United Nations, he made a sharp attack on Pakistan and called it a country that promotes terrorism. He said that India does not pay much attention to the comments of a country which is struggling with problems like terrorism, economic crisis and dissatisfaction of its own people. His reply is being seen as a strong diplomatic response from India.

Anupama Singh’s journey shows that the direction of a career can be changed with determination and a clear goal. His journey from the corporate world to the platform of global diplomacy has become a source of inspiration for many youth today.
