Senior Thai leader Anutiin Charanviirakul has cleared his way to become the 32nd Prime Minister of Thailand by winning elections in Parliament. In the election held on Friday (September 5, 2025) in Thailand’s Parliament, the result has been revealed according to an informal calculation a live broadcast on TV.

According to an associated press report, senior leader of the Bhumijathai Party Anutiin Charanvirakul won more than 247 votes from the 492 active members of Thailand’s House of Representatives, which is the number of majority numbers in the country. However, the last result will be officially declared after the completion of the election.

Anuutin will take over the post to formally appoint a formal appointment from the king of Thailand

Anutiin Charnavirakul and his government are expected to take over as the 32nd Prime Minister of Thailand and take charge as the 32nd Prime Minister of Thailand, a few days after being formally appointed by King Maha Waziralongcorn.

Former Prime Minister Patongtarn Shinavatra dismissed on court order

According to the report, before this election, Thailand’s power was in the hands of former Prime Minister Patongtarn Shinavatra, who was the 31st Prime Minister of the country and who was dismissed from the post after the order of the country’s court last week. Patongtarn was found guilty of violating morality rules in the case of politically a controversial phone call with Senate President Hun Sen of neighboring country Cambodia.

Anutin was working as a minister in Patongtarn’s cabinet

Anutin Charnavirakul was earlier serving as a minister in Patongtarn’s cabinet, but after the leak of phone calls with Cambodia Senate President and public criticism on it, Anutiin resigned from his ministerial post and even separated his party from his coalition government.
